Although confinement is still in effect, that's no reason to stop dressing stylishly.
And this is not a reason to stop being interested in clothing. On the contrary, take the time and go see the new collections of your favorite brands, rummage a little on large e-shops to discover new brands, new styles, new trends.
Here are three gems with just the right amount of character for sunny days.
Lightweight Sweatshirt - ABCL Garments
You probably know ABCL if you have been following us for some time.
We really appreciate the work of Mattia, with whom we have collaborated twice: on summer pants and a light jacket .
I was looking for a grey sweatshirt that was rather light but not boring, and I set my sights on this one:
The adjective that comes to mind spontaneously when talking about this sweatshirt is " understated ". Nicolò explained this term in the article presenting our textured blue suit .
“ The closest word would be ‘sober,’ but that’s not quite it.
I would rather define it like this: a sobriety that "does more" while appearing to do less. "
A quick review of the subtle details of this sweatshirt:
- Loose fit but not too wide either: exactly what I need. It is possible to take this sweatshirt one size smaller.
- Very pretty Japanese cotton with a zigzag effect . The manufacturing is also Japanese.
- Chimney collar , a rare detail on a sweatshirt that gives it character and uniqueness.
- Lightweight so well suited for the spring/summer season that is coming.
Out of stock on the brand's e-shop , you will find some models on the English site The Content Store at a good price.
This sweatshirt is available here in navy blue.
Cleated Boat Shoes - Sebago
I have been looking for a pair of casual leather shoes for almost a year now, wanting to get away from the classic derbies and loafers. .
It was with this mindset that I became interested in the boat shoe. But I didn't want it with a flat sole , a little too preppy for my taste.
It was the boat shoes with a thick commando sole that caught my attention, whose slightly rougher style corresponds more to my tastes. I discovered this type of shoe with this Paraboot model that I find particularly successful.
Finding this pair a bit expensive for what I was prepared to invest in it, I looked for other brands that offered them for less ( Loake , Herring , Bexley or Jules&Jenn for example), but the models each time lacked a bit of panache, that little something extra.
Then I saw Giovanni, the manager of our shop on rue Commines , with these shoes on his feet:
I was won over.
Yes, I bought the same shoes as him (sorry Giovanni).
I like the combination of colours and materials here, which is particularly harmonious.
I like the style of this pair, halfway between workwear and casual . The rounded shape suits me perfectly.
The well-felt olive green insert is made of cotton canvas and comes from the English supplier Millerain .
The leather is of decent quality, if not excellent.
For the construction, it’s Goodyear .
This pair is made in the Dominican Republic. This is the first time I've seen this country for the making of a pair of shoes or even a piece of clothing and I don't really know what to think about it.
I've worn mine about ten times since buying them and I'm happy with them: I particularly like the feel of the cleated sole when walking, which provides excellent grip.
In addition to the official Sebago e-shop, this pair is also on sale at Tower London , Blackleaf or even Amazon .
Linen Shirt - Gratitude
Following on from the presentation I made to you of Laetitia Modeste a few months ago, I present here the project of another young brand whose approach I appreciated: Gratitude.
Their first product is currently available for pre-order on Ulule: a linen shirt, made in France.
Two colors: white or light beige.
Two collars: buttoned or officer.
My preference is for the beige button-down shirt, a little rarer than the basic white shirt and just as stylistically interesting.
What are the special features of this shirt?
- The brand goes further than French manufacturing : the linen is woven in France, the buttons (wooden on the beige model) and the labels are also made in France .
- A price below the psychological barrier of €100.
As you may see, the country where the flax is grown is not specified on the product sheet. Here is the response from Jean, the initiator of the project with whom I discussed, on this subject:
“ Our supplier has confirmed to us that their fabrics are composed of at least 85% French linen, and the rest of the linen from Belgium/Netherlands. ”
Finally, I would like to draw your attention to two things:
- The size guide , which shows that the shirt is long and rather straight in the chest.
- The presence of a small logo at chest level , barely visible on the beige model.
Delivery is scheduled for June. A good time for a linen shirt.
