Everyone has a love affair with CONVERSE. ❤️
Or at least everyone had one. A romance in college or even before if you were born into a trendy family.
For me, this love began in the dark of a movie theater. My body almost devoured by the red velvet around it, I watched the images pass by. When suddenly, my eyes widened and my jaw dropped: Will Smith was showing off his brand new pair of sneakers on the screen. Black leather Converse All Star Chuck Taylors with the red, blue and white crest.
Something is messed up in my head. My world has just changed.
Of course, for an adult, this is such a big product placement that it can be disgusting. How does receiving a new pair of sneakers serve the plot? In fact, it helps to define the character who is nostalgic, in a world focused on technological performance. But anyway!
For me, with my childish eyes, Converse was immediately #1 on the list of things I was willing to beg my parents for. That, a BMX and a new battery.
While preparing this video, I thought about all of this. And this memory came back to my mind like Proust's madeleine.
Converse brings back memories. And it's the same as the power of a song that we hear again and which takes us back to a lost but dear context.
Nostalgia.
And, for a long time, I didn't wear Converse anymore because probably it was no longer fashionable or other sneakers became more important to me, or dress shoes seemed to convey more my clothing pretensions.
In any case, Converse is the iconic sneaker that cannot die because it is so iconic. Today, I'm bringing it back and I found this pair for 30 euros on Vinted.
At this price, there's a good chance I'll buy another pair in a different color soon.
And so, I will begin the collection that I swore I would start at fifteen.
