Edwin

Our opinion

Edwin is a solid option to consider when shopping for denim. With an entry-level price of €90, the brand hits hard and literally crushes the competition represented by Levi's and Wrangler .

Having owned one of these entry-level denims for more than 2 years, I can only attest to its solidity and its magnificent evolution over time (provided you respect the rules for washing raw jeans). This exudes the Wabi Sabi so dear to Benoit and Geoffrey.

As for the more high-end products, I cannot give such a clear opinion but the quality seems there and the cuts are very successful.

The rest of the Edwin range is always very interesting to browse: if everything is not to be had (far from it), certain pieces are real successes in terms of cuts and fabrics.

Edwin washes remain relatively discreet.

The history of the brand Edwin

Edwin is a denim brand born in Japan in 1947. Its founder, Mr. Tsunemi (no, nothing to do with the Fukushima accident), decided to import Levi's fabrics from the United States and reproduce them with high quality superior for the Japanese market then in full Americanization.

In the 1960s, Edwin canvases became real references in Japan due to their solidity (16 Oz, unheard of until then!) and their atypical finishes such as the famous “Rainbow Selvedge” with its multicolored border, which had become the emblematic sign of the brand.

After having conquered a solid domestic market and establishing itself in Korea, Edwin set out to conquer the United States and Europe at the beginning of the 2000s. The brand stands out for its modern cuts and its numerous innovations .

Now present in many French boutiques, Edwin clothing is part of a world that is both workwear and casual . There you can find denim, but also chambray shirts, Japanese fabric jackets, t-shirts with offbeat prints and accessories of all kinds.

The brand's price positioning remains quite broad due to the existence of several ranges. If a pair of jeans produced in Turkey from a classic fabric will cost you around €90, another handcrafted in Japan can cost more than €200.
