Once again this month, our editors' neurons were put to work. The reason for this: that everyone selects a leather jacket for less than 1000 euros.
Previous selections focused on:
- Blazers and their sometimes personal definition
- Boots accompanied by their socks for those who fear the cold
- Before that, gloves for those whose hands are icebergs
- We also looked at sweatshirts
May this selection of leather jackets thrill you a little.
Good reading,
Christopher.
Mister Freedom Vegetable Tanned Leather Jacket - Jordan
When I was asked to select a leather jacket for less than 1000 euros, I first thought of Aeroleather Clothing like Jérôme. The safe bet. It's an essential brand and if I had the budget, I would go to them and certainly for this jacket which exerts an attraction on me that I don't know how to explain.
But Jérôme was ahead of me and he forced me to look further. And I thank him for that.
I then thought of Valstar, because I'm dreaming of a suede leather jacket from the brand. However, here again, I wanted to go beyond my first reflexes to give you more.
And I found this jacket.
Beyond the fact that the jacket is made in California, that it is not lined, that it has reinforcements in the shape of arrows on the pockets, that the buttons are of quality and that it is based on the he aesthetic of a jacket from the 1930s (the Cossack Jacket ), it is the promise behind this jacket that seduces me.
That of going dark, of getting an extreme patina the more you wear it.
Look.
This montage clearly shows the evolution of leather. And, when Benoît speaks of “a great thrill”, perhaps that’s a bit of it, after all.
Craftsmanclothing Suede Leather Safari Jacket - David
I discovered this brand during my wanderings on Instagram. Created in 2015, Craftsmanclothing offers to revisit certain iconic pieces of the men's wardrobe: you will find in particular taupe-colored henley , also selected by Nicolò in its nuggets.
And so, leathers too.
For this selection, I offer you a safari jacket
Unlined
And yours too, I hope.
Product to order
Particularly appreciating warm colors, my eye naturally settled on the “ cigar ” color, a rather dark brown with slight red highlights.
Worn, this jacket looks like this (even if it is rather the “tobacco” color and not “cigar”):
It is a shame that the brand communicates little about the origin of the leather as well as the place of manufacture, but looking at the distributors and the photos, the quality seems to me to be there.
Harrington Baracuta G9 suede leather jacket - Michel
Here is my foal: the legendary Baracuta G9 jacket in its suede leather version.
Needless to mention the high buttoned collar, the slanted flap pockets, and the tartan lining which make its legendary design. Even though I just did it.
Its tobacco-colored suede gives it an unapologetic western side that speaks to me.
The essential
I also add a special mention to its raglan armhole which, in addition to being a source of comfort, reinforces its aesthetic.
I can see myself wearing it with a white t-shirt, bleach jeans, smooth brown leather boots and a Colt 1873 revolver. Maybe one of you will too.
1950 College jacke t Aero Leather Clothing - Jérôme
Speaking of leather jackets, the first image that comes to mind is a photograph of David Bowie taken during the Heroes sessions in 1977. This jacket
You will have understood: I am as interested in clothing as in its little history.
The piece that brings me today also comes from Aero Leather Clothing , an English brand that needs no introduction: it's a suede leather jacket, a replica of the College jackets of the 50s and customizable to desire (with or without chest pocket).
Checkered lining, Talon zipper, dark chocolate color: it's simple and goes with almost everything. For inspiration, we can take a look at Somebody Up There Likes Me by Robert Wise (small film but lots of style): Paul Newman wears this jacket wonderfully, with shirt, pants and derbies, and it still works sixty years later late.
Trucker jacket Type-III Valstar - Nicolò
Well for my part I turned to a classic brand, Valstar, which is the easy choice par excellence when you want a beautiful suede jacket. But the choice of model is less classic.
In recent years, we have seen a number of " trucker jackets" flourish, but in suede instead of denim.
I say "shapes", since in the end, what makes the jacket "denim" is... the fact that it is denim. Yes![/bg_info],
And it turns out it looks really good. The shape is intimately associated, in our consciousness, with something casual and suede is too, only it adds a touch of refinement, of preciousness that denim does not have. A superb alternative to a classic, in short.
My heart was torn between two very successful colors, so I gave you both.
A fairly pale olive green perfect for complementing brown or beige tones for example, as well as this very soft sky blue , which would be perfect for finalizing an outfit that plays on a monochrome of different shades of blue denim: raw jeans, stonewashed shirt, and hop, that sends it!
