Dear friends, my nuggets this week will be placed under the sign of adventure, combat, sport, physical effort, prowess, in short: epic.
On the program: the henley worn by a martial arts legend, the overcoat from a brand whose history is rooted in mountaineering and the right shoes to give your all in the gym.
Here we go!
Henley “Lee-Kung Man” – (via Craftsman Clothing )
What's better than a short-sleeved henley to play the role of a t-shirt, but with a little something extra?
This one is made of very high quality cotton, consistent and soft, a very beautiful camel color. The finishes are exemplary.
On the technical side, a real bonus point for this Henley: the collar is particularly well worked so well that it will hold on the chest without sagging, even with all the buttons open. This is possible thanks to an extra thickness of fabric all around the collar and on the back, secured using very close stitching seams.
I have seen many henleys before not solving this recurring problem of the sagging cervix, then it is worth highlighting.
Note that if, via this henley, it is the first time that we talk about Craftsman Clothing in our columns, it does not mean that the rest of their pieces are not worth the detour. Quite the contrary, I particularly invite you to look at their Gurkha pants.
Oh yes and for the record, here Craftsman Clothing only plays the role of "distributor", and not of creator. Because this henley comes from an old Hong Kong workshop (the " Lee-Kung Man Knitting Factory "), renowned for its quality, and above all, for having been THE ONLY producer of henleys of... Bruce-Lee!
All the fury of a dragon and the martial prowess of a dragon, delivered in a t-shirt? Well maybe not, but the story is cool.
BE CAREFUL, though. This Henley runs extremely small IN ADDITION to being fitted. Usually between an S and M, I opted for a L... Which still turns out to be too small for me. So I will need no less than an XL... which I am impatiently waiting to be back in stock.
As shipping from Hong Kong is quite expensive, it is best not to make a mistake. . On the other hand, it is a dream opportunity for very small sizes, usually poorly served in nice tees and henleys.
Technical overcoat - Anoralp
It's been a while since I noticed this brand specialized in technical outerwear, and inspired by the world of mountaineering. It would even be more accurate to say that it is a kind of "reboot", a "revival" of an old French brand from the world of winter sports and mountains, which has benefited from a new creative direction.
The piece that catches the eye the most is their overcoat. The design is innovative and assumes its technicality while being successful enough to make it a visual argument, rather than a concession.
I was able to see the overcoat up close and, although I was not able to test it in real conditions, I must say that even Benoît, the official pope of French techwear was pleasantly surprised.
Metcon 2 Free - Nike
I already said it in my recent article about my obsessions and our clothing projects for 2020 , this year will be the year when I go to the gym with equipment worthy of the name: stylish, robust, comfortable and technical, from head to toe.
And to go with my new Triple Aught Design shorts , I finally decided on these Nike Metcon 2 "Free", color "Legion Green" , which I should receive shortly.
As a reminder, it is necessary to have particularly flat and incompressible soles, while having strong foot support, otherwise the performance and the "safety of the practitioner" , are likely to take a hit.
In fact, this choice was made somewhat reluctantly, because we all know that Nike can be improved in terms of ethical, social and environmental responsibility.
But I had to face the fact that if I wanted a pair that was really stylish and that did the job perfectly for lifting heavy weights in the gym, well... it couldn't be better.
Totally flat but with good plantar support, an incompressible sole and strong grip on the ground. That's what you need. I bought them on the i-run website, which, despite its slightly dodgy design straight out of a technology class in middle school in the 2000s, is actually a completely reliable site.
So all I have to do now is find THE brand that will convince me for sports t-shirts and tank tops... But that's a subject for another time.
