1. ❤️ Favorite of the moment: Anglo-Italian
Anglo-Italian is a Permanent Style discovery brand.
So I went to this brand's shop, and I found everything I saw very beautiful.
Anglo-Italian is therefore a young English brand, created in 2017.
The wardrobe finds its roots in English tailoring and takes some inspiration from Italian style
For example, on the one hand you have the materials and colors, rather sober and discreet, which are reminiscent of the English style.
And on the other, you will find soft jacket or coat constructions as well as open collar shirts that are more reminiscent of Italian style.
With the exception of a few sweaters, assembled in Scotland, or shoes from the Crockett&Jones brand, made in England, the manufacturing is Italian.
I really appreciate this type of brand which takes up the codes of the classic dress wardrobe by injecting a touch of modernity, by reworking certain shapes
Finally, a rare thing worth mentioning: the brand sells fabrics by the meter .
I sometimes receive questions from readers who are looking to purchase their own fabric for making a custom suit. So here is an option: it is certainly expensive (we arrive at €100 per meter) but there is a lot of choice and the fabrics are very beautiful.
You will no doubt have noticed that the brand's clothes are expensive : more than €1000 for a suit or a coat, €150 to €200 for a shirt, €250 to €350 for a knit.
This is the price to pay for clothes:
- In the right style
- In very beautiful materials
- And with quality Italian tailoring (for example, the blazers are fully canvassed)
The fact remains that having knowledge of this type of brand has an interest in my eyes: it allows you to educate your eye on beautiful clothing, to develop your own taste .
I find the brand's message very inspiring at a time when I am starting to take a keen interest in classic dress style.
Don't hesitate to look at the brand's Instagram account to see worn photos.
2.💡 Spotlight: Uncle and Son
Tonton et Fils is a brand that we have mentioned here and there for several months (for example in my article on the sleeveless vest ) but which we had not yet talked about in detail.
This is a French brand, producing in France
We could compare Tonton et Fils to Arpenteur or Bleu de Paname for example.
The brand's flagship product is the sleeveless vest . Available in raw materials such as waxed cotton, canvas or even shearling, it is clearly distinguished from the suit vest or sleeveless down jacket that is more traditionally found.
And if we look at the brand's other products, we find this workwear DNA with materials with character.
Here are a few pieces that caught my attention:
- Double pocket shirts. You should consider adding this piece to your wardrobe if you don't have one: in a beautiful brown, green or khaki color, it's a very good choice to break out of the classic blue and white shirts.
- Overalls! People sometimes ask me where you can find them, and other than Carhartt , I didn't have much to recommend.
- Finally, the jackets are very nice, and go a little further than the traditional plain work jackets
The prices are rather high-end (count 200 to 400€ for a vest, 250 to 450€ for a jacket or 200€ for a sweater for example) but are justified by the rather unique style proposition, the use of beautiful materials and French tailoring.
3. 📰 Brand news: Paris Yorker
Paris Yorker offers good quality knitwear at a reasonable price , under €100. In addition to the good quality/price ratio, there are quite a few choices in terms of colors and shapes: round collar, funnel neck, zipped collar, shawl collar, zipped vest, etc.
However, there hasn't been much talk about the brand recently.
What happened ?
In fact, the brand has been announcing the cessation of its activity since mid-2019. Cessation which did not take place since in August 2020, the brand announced its return with a new collection:
So yes, Paris Yorker is back .
The offer is very similar to that of previous years, with a few new features:
While it only made sweaters, Paris Yorker now offers scarves, already available, and announces the upcoming arrival of shirts.
The feedback I have on the brand is quite good. This is an option to consider (again) in your quest for the right knitted sweater .
