Here I am again for my second round, in our new Sunday format. So it's my turn to present to you what has excited me these last few days.
On the program: accessible stylistic upgrade , a beautiful vintage jersey, and comfort at home.
Ezy white pants - Uniqlo
You can see it in the cover photo: I have developed a chronic addiction to wearing white pants.
It's quite simple, almost every morning when I put on my clothes, I come to the same conclusion: with white pants, it would be even better.
Whether it is to create a competition monochrome with neutral tones or to bring out a nice bright color, white pants always creep into my outfit ideas.
Look here for example how Alessandro Squarzi shows us that with this stylistic joker, bright colors... live!
If it can quickly lose interest with pieces that are too dark , white pants are a real Swiss army knife for my wardrobe.
When you want to try it for the first time, you generally go for classic white jeans, with a slim fit for two reasons:
- The denim adds just the right touch of casualness to make the piece more versatile, whether worn with a sweatshirt or a sartorial outfit.
- The slim cut is reassuring, since it remains within the current standard to counterbalance the "risk" that we are already taking with such a distinctive and still too unusual piece.
The nugget that I present to you here has neither one nor the other. And yet that is its whole interest.
For around forty euros, this white model from Uniqlo's Ezy range enhances my outfits thanks to its cut which takes me off the beaten track of slim fit:
- It allows me to play with volumes and therefore easily obtain more stylish outfits even with basics,
- Its "7/8th" length allows you to keep a slender silhouette despite its width,
- It offers a comfort that almost makes me forget to take it off to sleep at night.
All this while keeping all the interest of white pants for your wardrobe, which I have already described above.
Whether you're sticking to a budget or experiencing the joys of tomato sauce stains on white canvas on a budget, this statement piece is great for elevating the style of your wardrobe.
Why this brand?
We've said it many times at BonneGueule: in the entry-level segment, Uniqlo 's quality/price ratio is almost unbeatable. The pieces will inevitably lack charm compared to a mid-range equivalent, but a decent selvedge jean or 100% merino knit for less than 50 euros is rarely found elsewhere.
For my part, I also see Uniqlo as a very good playground: the more marked collections such as the collaboration with JW Anderson allow you to have fun while accessing strong pieces with a limited budget.
I must warn you though: Uniqlo would benefit from being as ethically sound as they are with their clothing. But that's a topic we'll come back to soon.
Blue Lotus T-shirt - Maison Cornichon
When you don't have time to iron a shirt in the morning, you often end up quickly putting on a t-shirt.
When we have time, we sometimes end up putting on a t-shirt underneath to wear it open.
In both situations, this t-shirt is your friend.
On this subject, I have long been a purist: for me, under a shirt worn open, it has always been a white t-shirt or nothing. Well, in the latter case, you can close the shirt.
Why? Because such a look with a colored t-shirt is rarely successful in my eyes. Either it will clash with the color of the shirt, or it will be too dark and will cause a contrast that will not be the best. Because the latter will always have a less elegant rendering than a combination with a white t-shirt.
This is also a basic rule to follow to succeed in your first layerings: always start from the lightest piece towards the darkest.
So this rule was pretty absolute in my eyes, and the nugget I'm going to tell you about proved me wrong.
For the record, it is while preparing the looks in which we will present our April clothes to you that I realized the potential of this t-shirt under a shirt.
Its sky blue color is just light enough to work under a blue denim, chambray, or even oxford shirt.
As for its Jersey, which mobilizes more than 50 years of know-how, it offers a vintage relief which is welcome in all these possible texture games.
In short, it won me over. So it was important for me to share it with you.
Why this brand?
Because it's good, because it's beautiful, and because it's tasty: despite a high price, their t-shirts last over time with materials and colors that are light years away from the rendering of a very smooth t-shirt from a fast fashion brand.
If you want to make your first purchase of a durable and quality t-shirt, I recommend Maison Cornichon without hesitation.
Jogging navy - Monoprix
Here, we fall more into homewear, which should have just as much a place in our clothing expenses as what we wear outside the home: what's the point of feeling good in clothes that enhance us all day long, if it's to end up in SpongeBob shorts once we get home?
Beyond being a question of personal taste, not neglecting your indoor clothing allows you not to be caught off guard in the event of a surprise visit from your granny.
However, it is natural that we are less inclined to spend a large budget on it, compared to what we would spend on a job interview.
And that's where this jogging comes in for me:
- Its navy blue color gives it a certain sobriety which breaks with the very "sportswear" look that other jogging pants can have,
- Its slim cut makes it a stylish piece, which fully deserves its place in a casual wardrobe,
- Its cotton jersey is extremely comfortable, believe me.
All for around thirty euros.
Oh yes, a magic bonus that you won't find everywhere. Even less for this price.
A source of serenity, which I can no longer do without on my jogging pants.
Zipped pockets.
Whether it's for buying bread at the bakery, running errands, or running to the gym with my stuff in my pockets, the presence of zipped pockets has made these joggers indispensable for my homey evenings. So I'm sure they can be just as useful to you.
Moreover, I also took great pleasure in wearing it with a dark sweatshirt and a camel coat: you can therefore also reinterpret it as you wish when you are outside your secret garden.
Why this brand?
Monoprix surprised BonneGueule eight years ago with basics that were very reasonable in terms of quality/price. Nowadays, this is not always the case , but there are always good surprises to be found between two shelves of jams.
To find your way around, you'll have to keep an eye on the composition labels, the thickness of the jersey, without forgetting to put things into perspective depending on the price you pay. But as for jogging pants, I can tell you that the way is clear.
