VIRAL stands for Iconic Clothing that Tells the Story of Legendary America .

Yes, we racked our brains.

This format, brand new and beautiful, was designed to tell you (in a somewhat personal way I agree) the stories of the mythical clothes of America , the ones that everyone wears all the time, unaware of having on their back a piece of history .

I chose to break the chain and leave the BonneGueule showroom. For a few days, I established an HQ, with Louis who shoots our videos, somewhere in the flea market of Saint-Ouen, in the north of Paris. What more logical place to talk to you about clothes with a story than an antique district?

The first episode of this series of 8 tells you what pushed the American Department of Defense to give a facelift to the military jacket (or field jacket ) with which it dressed the troops. This story is full of failed attempts by Americans to design the ideal jacket for combat.

The M-65 is the best known of these . The one you see in the movies. That of social movements. And it’s also the one we’re copying now.

VIRAL, it's starting slowly and it's now.

I'm wearing a Hawaiian shirt and a jungle jacket found at Brut Clothing.

And for the record, we also released our interpretation of the M-65 , even if there aren't many sizes left.

For those who asked for illustrations of the jackets preceding the M-65 (and you are right), here is something to get your teeth into:

The M-41

Reproduction of an M-41 by At The Front

As you can see, it has very few pockets. Two in fact, like a current standard jacket. But for a soldier, it may be a bit tight for storing his ammunition, accessories, etc.

It looks more like a parade jacket than a combat jacket. Note this collar designed more to highlight the shirt and tie than to protect the neck from the cold.

Plus, with its wool lining, it's too warm for summer, but too cold for winter. Finally, we can admire this beautiful brown color which does not please the soldiers.

The M-43

Authentic M-43 from Brut Clothing. Admit she has a good face!

The M-43 that I personally find really elegant. Many brands are inspired by it today, keep your eyes peeled when you walk in the street (this also applies to the M-51 and M-65 of course).

It is very green.

The M-50

It looks like the M-43 but it is too slim, so you can't really use layering. Crucial technique for those facing constant climate change.

The M-51

Here too, we feel the inspiration of the M-43, but with a shirt collar. The problem lies mainly in the classic buttons on the sleeves which come off during movement.

The M-65

And the famous M-65, of which you have the "autopsy" in the video.
