As we never tire of talking about style, we had the idea of shooting videos to do it in a free and direct way from you to us. This gives a new video format: Gimmick, of which here is the pilot .
The principle: analyze the outfits of those who dress the best and tell you all their secrets.
The result is that after watching each episode, you will have a whole bunch of gimmicks to apply to get out of your comfort zone and achieve even better outfits.
🤵🤵🤵🤵 It's a shared format: it will be presented by David, Nicolò, Benoît and myself.

The line between sportswear and streetwear has become blurred.
When I walk in the street, I look out for the feet of passers-by. Some people think it's some sort of unhealthy fetish, but not at all! I look at the way they are shod.
It fascinates me.
And I have news for you: sneakers have won !
They have even transcended the generational gap. Old and young alike agree that sneakers deserve to be worn. And that’s beautiful. Union through clothing.
Well, maybe it's not the same sneakers they're wearing, but who cares?
And I admit to having a weakness when I see old people wearing Nike, Adidas, New Balance while they wear velvet pants and a hunting jacket. It infuses cool into their entire being instantly.
That's the kind of old man I'd like to be.
But coming back to the way of wearing sportswear, I must warn you: there are ways of doing things. Simply putting on running shoes with your urban clothes isn't enough.
In fact, if that's it, you should abstain!
Leaving the house in big light gray fleece jogging pants can damage your integrity in no time. You need tact, a little tact, knowing what you're doing.
Don't worry, it's not just for the initiated. We are not here to say “those who know know”. Sportswear is for everyone, that's the beauty of this style . And it's another opportunity to have fun and enjoy getting dressed in the morning.
A video to inspire you. To show you how to do it. One that lays the foundations of a successful outfit by deciphering and dissecting others, successful or not.
My outfit to present Gimmick:
- Sweatshirt: BonneGueule
- Scarf: Vintage at Kiliwatch
- Watch: Tudor Black Bay 58
Outfit #1: Sega
Impressive outfit full of flair.
I'm starting strong, I admit. This is precisely to show you the extent of the possibilities available to you with sportswear.
The sportswear clothes here are:
- Jogging
- The hoodie
- The down jacket
- Running
- And, to a lesser extent, the Oxford shirt (if it has an American collar)
In other words, practically everything!
Of course, an outfit like this can only be achieved by a person who knows their body well, who doesn't care about the looks of others and who doesn't work in market finance. Either.
The light gray knit (and not fabric as I say in the video) is everywhere, it would eat everything if we didn't stop it. But Sega stops it precisely at the ankle by cutting it short, at the hip level with the shirt which defines and with the pink hat which brings another color proposition.
It's very well done. We can read the silhouette perfectly thanks to that.
With this outfit, I also want to show you that you can do sportswear with volume.
(More details in the video)
Outfit #2: easy sportswear
First of all, subscribe to @wm_styling you will not be disappointed. Or maybe, but then don't tell me because I will be disappointed in my turn.
The outfits always look great and there's no need to share exactly the same style to draw inspiration from.
Coming to the outfit that interests us, it's a favorite outfit for me. Yes, I don’t mince my words.
Everything is consistent. Well proportioned.
We may find the pants too short but we must remember that this length resonates with the length of the jackets and allows an equitable distribution of all parts of the silhouette.
Lengthen the pants and the man appears smaller firstly, and the silhouette would be unbalanced secondly. It's not because your instinct or habits tell you to lengthen your pants that you will do good to your figure. Long pants are not a sign of common sense.
Well, that's said, I think I had it on my heart.
But let’s talk about sportswear. We are here for that !
From the sportswear register, we have:
- Sneakers
- The quilted jacket/down jacket with or without sleeves
- The cap
- The bag surely but less interesting
Observe how well the running shoes are integrated:
- In terms of colors, it is harmonious with the whole
- In terms of proportions: they are voluminous and the pants respond with the same volume as well as the top to balance everything
The mid-layer down jacket:
- She's there for performance, not to be cold
- It adds a little dark echoing the dark of the running shoes. Skillful.
The shirt, which is not from sportswear, gives shine and light.
The rest is literature.
Outfit #3: Anthony Madsen-Sylvester
@toneloki's outfits always inspire me so much.
There is always this attitude of: "I dress how I want and anyone who has anything to say about it can go to hell." It's pleasant.
As I explain in the video, it's probably more due to his person than his clothes. If you take off his clothes you will see that he is covered in tattoos. But it doesn't stop there, if during the day he works for the Timothy Everest brand, at night and on weekends he is the singer of a deathpunk band called Turbonegro.
And you have to see the outfits in which he performs on stage.
He takes responsibility and it’s beautiful.
This is why I find his style an inexhaustible source of inspiration. And today he doesn't let me down.
The sportswear clothing here... is:
- The Polo
Eh yes. The two-tone striped rugby polo shirt.
He integrates it into a classic outfit and it works very well. It may seem a little strange to the unaccustomed eye. But think about the person who saw a young person wearing a pair of sneakers with a suit for the first time.
It's all a matter of habit. Tolerance is just a slider on a line and it is up to us to move it as we wish.
Outfit #4: Alex Badia, the example not to follow
A summary of everything you shouldn't do in my opinion.
It all seems very fake, very plastic. We feel that this is not the result of working on his personal style. But the result of his observations of catwalk fashion.
I'm showing you this look to show you the excesses of sportswear for sportswear. And it's not enough to just put on cycling glasses to wear it well.
An outfit with an expiration date.
Can we talk about style?
I do not believe.
Outfit #5 and #6: Aimé Leon Doré
#5 The false good idea
I love this advertising campaign created for Aimé Leon Doré and New Balance.
There’s irreverence. We feature a non-model. We take a photo of a moment of life. Or at least, we reinvent a moment of life by fantasizing it:
- Cigar
- The dog
- Newspaper
- Races
Besides, I realize that they want to show us that this man is French. There's the dog, a French bulldog, and the baguette of course.
Or maybe it’s simply to give it a touch of exoticism. Because spontaneously, I no longer saw him reading his newspaper in Brooklyn or Manhattan. And Woody Allen's camera doesn't go far. We see him on a bench.
As for the outfit, I don't particularly recommend taking inspiration from it. Even if it's daring and creative, jogging is too basic. It gives a "I don't care about my appearance" side that I like in an advertisement, the famous irreverence, but which in everyday life loses its charm.
#6: The very good idea:
A good way to wear jogging pants in my opinion is to be found in this photo:
Replace the moccasins with sneakers if that’s more your style. That's not the important thing.
The important thing is that there is consistency in the colors, in the cut of each garment in relation to the other, that the jogging pants do not have imposing ribbed edges as before. He is a little diminished. Which is conducive to its integration into everyday outfits.
An outfit to imitate for anyone who wants to try sportswear.
