NICOLÒ: SHEARLING SLIPPERS - DRAPER OF GLASTONBURRY

Do you know Derek Rose? Because we're going to talk about it, but not for the reasons you expect...

British luxury homewear brand, it is renowned for offering beautiful products ranging from dressing gowns, pajamas, boxers , and... yes, you guessed it, slippers.

And you know what, in my eyes, is the best of the best slippers? The shearling slipper.

green loden slippers

Well, I already have taupe ones, so if I get some again... Mhhm... Yes, Loden green, that's beautiful.

Those from Derek Rose are selling like hot cakes, and for good reason: it's beautiful, comfortable, it lasts in time , it keeps your feet warm in winter, and strangely, not so warm what a summer .

But Derek Rose's problem is that they tend to be a little greedy on prices , and not super transparent about the origin of different products.

So, guess who unearthed for you, in the darkest corners of the web, the site of the English manufacturer Derek Rose , who sells EXACTLY the same models, at HALF the price?

Well yes, it's your Servant, myself, faithful to the post and always there to find you the best deals!

And for now, if my own experience wasn't enough, I know for a fact that it's quality.

Because as chance would have it, I told my father-in-law about this good plan.

But he grew up in a small town in Sommerset, right next to Glastonburry .

© Or hazelnut? Hmm... The choice is difficult.

And he confirmed to me, at the age of 65, that he had known about this workshop since he was little , and that it had been recognized as a good local business since the time of his own parents.

And the site actually confirms the story: 85 years of activity , it's starting to happen.

I don't know about you, but such beautiful slippers, which support a family tradition, at such a good price, warm my heart as well as my feet.

And obviously, there are a whole bunch of sizes and colors, so no one will be disappointed.

Enjoy!

DAVID: SLIPPERS - ONNI SLIPPERS - LAPUAN KANKURIT

Not long ago, I gave you a tour of my Native American-inspired Quoddy shearling indoor shoes . It's made in the United States, the models for men and women are really very pretty and inspire confidence, warmth and comfort.

Among the little things to note: it's Chromexcel leather on the exterior. For the record, Chromexcel is a range from Horween, a fairly reputable American supplier. It's a leather really like no other. To go further, take a look at this article .

Another notable thing: it's shearling leather, therefore lined with a wool interior. Here it says "Hand Stitched Double Sided Sheepskin", which means the sheepskin is sewn onto the reverse side of the Chromexcel leather.

It's nice, okay, but 290 euros is also very expensive for a pair of slippers . And besides, are these really slippers?

If the question divides within the editorial staff, I note for my part the Vibram sole and the possibility of putting a head outside with this pair on your feet without looking like you just got out of bed.

It's a plus, a possible option, something to consider if by chance periods of confinement become the norm, in any case a beautiful product which will perhaps make you react too.

BENOÎT: CASHMERE SLIPPERS - MAISON CASHMERE

The subject of indoor shoes is very serious for me, you know my obsession with “homewear”. To date, I am the proud owner of:

  • two pairs of La Pantoufle à Pépère in camo fabric (one pair at my house and one at my parents')
  • a pair of Jinji elk leather moccasins (the great Native American thrill when spring arrives)
  • a pair of slippers from its suppliers and manufacturers . The other items in their “ Home & Cocooning ” section may interest you, especially if you want a cashmere bathrobe.

JORDAN: CHARENTAISES MAURICE - RONDINAUD

I am from Charentais.

I say “chocolatine”, I put my groceries in a “pocket”, I work at 9am in the morning and I eat “cagouilles”.

So when it comes to cooing at home, I wear Charentaise shoes from Rondinaud.

Rondinaud is the name that comes up every time a Charentais speaks of Charentaises.

I heard my grandparents and parents refer to this brand almost as a member of the family.

This is why in the tradition of my parents and grandparents and through a methodical, conscious, assertive and chauvinistic blindness, I choose VELVET SLIPPERS - MULO

Maybe like for me, what you wore at home was your last item of clothing spending. Right after your boxers and that Mickey bath towel you were given on the beach last summer.

In this case, these Muji cotton slippers and with EVA sole or their woolen winter cousins would probably have done the trick.

But now that we spend more time at home than elsewhere, priorities are changing. And then, apart from their quality/price ratio, these two pairs don't have a lot to say.

So I’m going to take the opposite tack and tell you about this velvet pair from Mulo. English brand specializing in shoes.

Already, velvet slippers, we expect less. In my last editorial nuggets, I already shared with you my weakness for this kind of originality. There’s something to intrigue your guests, when you can get some.

Their design contributes to this singularity. I find it well thought out and proportionate. The brown sole finishes the shape nicely. The elastics on the sides are discreet and seem practical.

I find the color just as well chosen. Its shades express themselves well on velvet and it combines easily with other colors.

When I see the shearling interior, I want to slide my feet in. It's a good sign.

Consulting the pair on the Mr. Porter e-shop, I wonder about its composition. As I am curious, I go to the brand's website and I see that it claims to use real shearling: "100% natural shearling", it says on its product pages.

Difficult to know if it is turned skin or if the wool of the skin was simply glued at the sole . According to appearances, we are in the second case but one thing is certain, it is not synthetic.

While I'm at it, here's some other information I was able to dig up:

  • The pair is handcrafted in an English velvet , probably in Portugal
  • The lining is made from recycled moleskin
  • The sole is rubber and it is glued
