Editorial nuggets #24 – Benoît

For this summer selection, I decided to show you pieces dedicated to 200% relaxation and relaxation.

Between organic cotton, very comfortable espadrille, striped or elk leather, you have a whole range of worlds to explore.

Let's go !

Escadrille Paris espadrilles

This is a brand that I didn't see coming and by which I am very pleasantly surprised!

And yet, I saw espadrilles marks. I wondered what Escadrille was going to bring in addition.

It comes down to 4 points:

  • unlike all brands of espadrilles, there is a very distinct left and right foot, with a different shape
  • there is a leather tab on the back of the heel for added durability
  • over the rope sole there is an additional sole, like a classic summer shoe, for more durability than the traditional rubber that covers the rope of an ordinary espadrille
  • and above all, inside, there is very light quilting covered with a fine leather insole, to add comfort.

And they succeeded: these espadrilles are by far the most comfortable I have, they instantly became my summer shoes that I slip into my suitcase as soon as I leave.

The insole is really very pleasant, no more rope that rasps the arch of the foot! It’s a detail that really contributes to the “high-end” feeling of Escadrilles. .

It makes you wonder why no one thought of this before!

So yes, when you have leather, a leather insole and an added outsole, obviously you can't get an espadrille for €20, but I always felt like I was compromising on comfort when I wore espadrilles, I am now delighted!

Chèche Av08 Paris

Here too, it is a very recent and confidential brand that I am offering you…

It's been a while since I've talked about summer scarves, even though they're an accessory that I never tire of as soon as the endless summer evenings get cooler...

Here is a GOTS certified organic cotton scarf (one of the most demanding labels for organic cotton).

That said, I would still have liked:

  • a slightly clearer and more understandable brand name
  • more information on manufacturing conditions in India, but for this type of micro-brand which is just starting out, everything is still to be built!
  • some more “adventurer” designs, as if it were a cheche that came straight from the desert
  • find out more about the creator of the brand: we only know that he is a man with 25 years of experience in textiles.

ABCL Garments "liberty selvedge stripe" shirt

We no longer present ABCL Garments! Between the two collaborations and the fact that Mattia, its founder, was very present in our summer shootings, we talked a lot about this brand which perfectly mixes Italian influences with Japanese materials and manufacturing.

This time, I wanted to try a shirt with a clearly visible stripe , but on a very casual fabric.

Well as usual, everything is impeccable: the cut is perfect, the fabric is charming with its very Japanese irregularity, the collar has pretty proportions and the selvedge edging visible everywhere is exquisite!

Jinji's Elan High Moc

So here, I admit, I selected this pair of shoes because I have a great curiosity for this indoor slipper just brought in Jinji, from which Visvim was largely inspired for its legendary FBT sneakers.

Definitely not the kind of shoes I would recommend for a first date in a hotel bar but sometimes it's nice to explore fun pieces.

So why talk about these hand-sewn moccasins in Wyoming?

Firstly, because I have never worn elk leather. Here, it is quite thick (2 or 3mm) but it remains very flexible, as is the case for deer hides.

So it looks super comfortable, with a rather improbable style (even intimidating if you're the type to worry about what others think of your outfits), in short, it intrigues me!

It's perfect for chilling at home and/or in your vacation home rather than wearing slides with socks.

To wear with Japanese jeans and/or an outfit with Americana/workwear influences like our dear Boras knows how to do so well!

A truly stunning piece for interior design adventurers.

Don't hesitate to tell me in the comments what gems you've spotted!
