Our 5 favorite sleeveless vests at the cinema – Reel

Nos 5 gilets sans manches préférés au cinéma – Bobine

Summary

For Your Eyes Only ” by John Glen (1981)

Change of era, style and decor. Our second sleeveless vest can be obtained from a relative regular at Bobine. We have already mentioned James Bond through the turtleneck , the shirt , the pajamas or his most emblematic performer: Sean Connery. If the latter gave him his letters of nobility in cinema, the period 1973-1985 played by Roger Moore does not, however, lack any advantages.

Carole Bouquet and Roger Moore, in “For Your Eyes Only”, 1981.

Less lunar than “Moonraker” , “For Your Eyes Only” celebrates the return of our secret agent to less fanciful adventures, shared between trips , Carole Bouquet, action and sportswear: diving, skiing, ice hockey, climbing, everything goes and it is precisely through one of these many outdoor activities that you will discover the vision of style with sleeveless vest according to Roger Moore .

At the foot of the mountains, in search of a transmitter that commands nothing less than the launch of British nuclear missiles, Roger Moore improvises as king of climbing, in an outfit at the crossroads: cozy, wintery, with a little sportswear touch.

Look at the shoes for example: they are not beautiful Captives ” by Atom Egoyan (2014)

Third stage of our journey: direction Canada and its harsh winters, not without having first taken a look at the charming singer . If “Saint Amour” does not particularly shine for its clothing choices, we will however learn a little more about the casual wearing of the sleeveless vest thanks to the character of Benoît Poelvoorde: here it is navy blue and tired, associated with a pair of jeans and a navy and red striped t-shirt. It's disarmingly simple.

We could say that it lacks panache , that it's a bit redneck. It's somewhat true and at the same time. If the style here is more to be found on the side of Vincent Lacoste, nothing prevents us from magnifying Benoît Poelvoorde's outfit with beautiful materials. The important thing here is the idea.

For example, imagine above a sleeveless vest with more style and character, a t-shirt with texture or perhaps in cotton-linen. Below: beautiful workwear shoes and a Japanese canvas. Wouldn't we be okay there? If not, let's put our last card on the table: it's the most surprising in the game.

5. The vest and white pants: Californian elegance

Greenberg ” by Noah Baumbach (2010)

What if to conclude we focus a little on the bottom of a cinema outfit? So let's pack our bags in a cozy suburb of California, to meet the characters of "Greenberg", a film by Noah Baumbach gone relatively unnoticed in our regions but which is worth a look.

Ben Stiller and Jennifer Jason Leigh in “Greenberg,” 2010.

Freshly released from the psychiatric hospital, Ben Stiller tries here to recover from a severe depression, taking advantage of his brother's vacation to crash the house, recharge his batteries and get to know Greta Gerwig, the young woman who takes care of the dog Malher and current affairs of the house. It's nicely bittersweet, bathed in sunshine and interesting outfits. Ben Stiller reveals himself in another light, less overtly comic, and it's a pleasant surprise.

Like the previous actors, he also wears a sleeveless vest: brown, almost essential, worn with a blue sweatshirt or a beautiful sweater in another brown. At the bottom, a pair of boots, jeans, beige pants and even white pants, which he sometimes combines with a blue shirt and the brown layers already mentioned. It is both handsome and relaxed.

Blue, white, brown, you get the picture anyway. At the end of the tunnel, there are therefore some notes of hope for Ben Stiller: love of course, but also light, illustrated here even in his clothing choices. So, what if you tried the sleeveless vest too, to see?
