Field tested: Selvedge jeans from Uniqlo

IMAGE_388 Last May, I shared with you my latest discovery, straight cut jeans, in Japanese selvedge canvas , purchased for €50 at the Uniqlo Singapore flagship.

€50, even in Singapore, seemed a little too good to be true. Especially since the label announced Kahihara denim (an excellent Japanese denim, for the uninitiated) with 100% made in Japan finishes.

Raw selvedge jeans Uniqlo

The quality seemed to be there (very regular weft, threads of equal thickness, rigidity), so I took the plunge (never neglect quality in men's fashion ).

7 months of regular wear later, without any water washing, the fading is just starting to appear (high resolution photos):

- the upper thighs (whiskers),

- the hollow of the knees (fishnets),

- and the back pockets.

The reflections of the light on the canvas are really beautiful (navy blue/turquoise blue), and no particular signs of wear have yet been reported.

Conclusion: Uniqlo selvedge jeans, a good low-hi

So you can go to Uniqlo, which has opened its Parisian flahship at Opéra, to get one. I imagine that they use this type of item as a loss leader to generate visits to the store, and to boost the low-hi (low cost, high quality) awareness of the brand.

PS: Still at Uniqlo, I bought a Merino wool cardigan. After 15 washes, it is still in good condition and the cut holds up... I should have made a little stock! 🙂

In short, Uniqlo is a really good low-hi brand as we like them.
