Skating leather shoes (2/2)

Now that the boots are dyed, it's time to renovate the leather so that it has the texture of baby skin (or what I imagine it to be).

Rehydrate and polish the leather

To rehydrate the leather, I use Famaco leather lotion (distributed at BHV). It is with this same milk that I care for my shoes every week or between two showers, and not with shoe polish. Remember, the sole function of shoe polish is to color and waterproof the leather. As such, you should not polish your shoes more than twice a year, otherwise the comfortable folds would turn into chasms.
Coming back to the moisturizing lotion: overdo it!

After the leather has drunk all the milk, I let it dry for a few hours, and I polish it with a soft cloth (I use my old tees).

Leather polish

As I went to great lengths to create blue highlights on my patina, I will use colorless shoe polish and not brown shoe polish (another point: shoe polish is beeswax and pigments , and not the Baranne or Kiwi junk which makes you shine in the short term and crack a few months later).

I don't put too much emphasis on the moving parts (kick, ankle) but I conscientiously wax the most rigid parts. After applying the polish, I wait 5 minutes and buff with an old tee.
After and before polishing.

Shoe icing

To finish, I decided to glaze the hard ends. You will find a tutorial here and here . After glazing, according to the associated term, they shine like a brothel mirror! You can see its reflection on the hard ends.

And this is what they look like in daylight: a very deep brown with pretty turquoise highlights!
