4 outfits for... camping (not wild)

4 tenues pour... faire du camping (pas sauvage)

Presented by Nawal, David, Benoît and Jérôme, the members of the editorial noted the challenge of adapting their summer outfits to different situations.

For today's exercise, we head to the campsites, where our editorial team will have to confront the very specific requirements and needs of nights under the stars.

Jerome's look

There are a thousand and one ways to go camping. Among those that I have already experienced: wild camping under the stars and more traditional camping, in tents of different formats. The first induces a more adventurous style, the second tolerates a little more sophistication, especially if like me you are not really an adventurer. Because yes: camping does not mean, for me, the death of style . My outfit is therefore a bit dressy but also very simple and comfortable.

In details :

  • Navy blue linen pants from BonneGueule x Informale, with just the right amount of style and ease. To find out everything about this collaboration with the Australian brand, it's here:
  • On the feet, a pair of soft camel suede moccasins from the American brand Quoddy. They have a little Native American feel that I really like, and above all they are less rigid than a pair of classic moccasins, with a leather sole. With my personal constraints , this type of flexible shoe is rather recommended if I have to walk a little. Small alternative if ever, boat shoes .
  • Above, a BonneGueule cotton-linen polo shirt . Its color goes very well with the pants. This polo shirt is both casual and a bit dressy: it fits very easily into my outfit. You can also wear it tucked or not into your pants, depending on the desired effect. So very simple outfit. If it's a little cooler, a cardigan will do the trick . Finally, if it rains, I would definitely find a way to take shelter - or bring out Aigle boots and a Ventile parka!

David's look

It's been over 10 years since I went camping, but I remember the atmosphere being very relaxed. This is not the place to make an outfit that is too structured, too dressy or too precious.

So here's what comes to mind, in a very cool spirit:

  • A white linen and cotton t-shirt worn under a linen shirt, worn open
  • Lightweight navy blue elasticated pants with a comfortable, very relaxed fit, from the Italian brand The Gigi
  • Nike mesh running shoes that I usually use for sports. In this context, they allow me to wander around everywhere while being very comfortable and above all, they dry very quickly if my feet get wet (which is very likely to happen)

To this base, I add small accessories to make the outfit denser:

  • A watch, here a Seiko
  • A small bracelet
  • A Champ de Maneuver leather key ring around your neck

And voila !

Nawal's look

Let it be said, camping is... clearly not my thing. So I decided to interpret this theme in my own way , in “camping in a small wooden cabin with running water and a real bed” mode. It's not cheating, okay? It's imagination . So I opted for:

  • A vintage dress from the 70s. It is made of cotton gauze, a very pleasant material to wear next to the skin . It has a “country” side that I like.
  • A large hat, in case the sun shines. It is made of raffia, quite large and wide, so very practical for protecting your face from UV rays.
  • A pair of espadrilles, aka the pair of shoes that best fits the camping spirit. BUT since we are in a fantasy vision of cottagegore camping ... they are golden, and compensated.

Benoît's look

Behind the word camping I immediately thought of a bivouac in the mountains. The conditions are very different from a classic campsite, so you have to adapt your wardrobe.

For this I suggest:

  • A pair of Salomon shoes
  • Stretchy and breathable shorts
  • A military polartec fleece sweater from the Tilak brand
  • A water-repellent and breathable windbreaker
  • A hat to protect yourself from the sun and a pair of glasses

Moreover, in the same spirit, I had already recommended outfits for extreme situations. I'm thinking in particular about my looks formy survival course , and the clothes to absolutely take on Koh-Lanta .
