Momotaro is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious jeans brands and we are here at very high end. Therefore, count on 300 euros for a pair.
The price may seem high but the quality is there and the finishes are truly perfect: these are jeans that will age with their wearer. Be careful, however, with the exchange rate between the Euro and the Yen which can cause the price of these jeans to fluctuate very strongly in Europe.
We appreciate the pink selvedge edging which stands out very well against the indigo.
If the manufacturing is traditional, the cuts remain very modern, from slim to fitted through to the straight cut.
Momotaro was founded in 2005 in Kojima , a port district of Kurashiki, Japan.
This district is also nicknamed the “Mecca of denim” because it is here that the first Japanese jeans were produced. As a result, the reputation of Kojima's artisans is well established and it is not surprising to learn that Momotaro mainly produces selvedge jeans and some denim clothing .
Its slogan, “Made by Hand, without compromise”, reflects the brand’s philosophy: the craftsmanship of the pieces is very careful.
The denim is made on ancient looms using the most prestigious cottons and their most premium fabrics are dyed with a natural indigo.
The jeans stand out with the use of pink selvedge edging. The latter refers to the pink of the peach from which the name of the brand comes, which means “peach boy” in Japanese.
