At Grand le Mar, the style is dressy and very visually assertive .
The appropriate term to describe the brand is probably exuberant:
- The suits are exuberant with large lapels, lots of double-breasted designs and some vibrant colors like yellow or red.
- The shirts are exuberant: either with a contrasting collar, or with an original cuff allowing the watch to be worn over the shirt.
- The shoes are exuberant: you can't find camouflage-print double-buckle moccasins everywhere!
Finally, the pants are perhaps the brand's weakest garment : their original belting reminiscent of the Gurkha sets them apart (it's not a real Gurkha belt) but for the rest, in terms of cut, colors and details, it's is quite classic.
The materials are natural (wool, cotton, linen) and come in part from renowned suppliers: Vitale Barberis Canonico for the suit or Thomas Mason for the shirt for example. That's a pretty good sign.
Prices are about average in a mid-range niche : around €150 for pants, €500 for a suit.
For the making, we had the information that the costumes are made in China. We don't know if this is the case for the brand's other clothing. This could explain the price positioning. rather competitive.
Do we recommend the brand to you?
We will have reservations about certain references which push the envelope a little too far for our taste (camouflage moccasin). But if this very marked sartorial universe appeals to you, then you've come to the right place.
You can also find more sober things at Grand le Mar: pants as mentioned above or certain dark suits.
Keep in mind that competition is quite strong in this niche. Other brands of this type exist: Suitsupply, House of Reza, Poszetka or Boggi for example.
