Church's

Our opinion

The brand is still a symbol of English shoes today. It offers numerous models in several price ranges , whose round shapes have been slightly refined under the influence of the Prada group.

However, if all the models are Goodyear stitched , the quality of the brand decreased after its acquisition: the first prices of the brand being for example in bookbinded leather .

However, the more expensive models remain very interesting in their price range, sporting for example triple soles and nappa lamb leather, in addition to being handmade in Northampton and numbered.

If the brand remains a reference in the world of shoes, it is preferable to turn to its high-end models , guarantor of the heritage and know-how of the house. Where the entry level of Chruch's is quite expensive for its price.

The history of the brand Church's

Here is a monument to English shoes, founded in 1873 by Thomas Church and his sons in Northampton . From 1881, the brand achieved immense success with its “adapted” model, which won a gold medal at the Universal Exhibition that year.

In 1921, the brand opened its first store in London and launched its first model of women's shoes. In 1929, a boutique was opened in NY, on Madison Avenue and the brand launched its legendary “Shanghai” model.

In 1999, the company was bought by the Prada group, which allowed the brand to open numerous boutiques in Europe. Today, Church's employs nearly 700 people and produces approximately 5,000 pairs of shoes per week.
