I regularly get questions from readers looking for shirts with a generous button-down collar:
Admittedly, these shirts have a certain charm and fit well into more classically proportioned formal outfits. :
And also more relaxed:
The fact that the collar rolls and undulates is particularly appreciated by connoisseurs:

Benevento shirt.
The history of the button-down collar being intrinsically linked to that of the oxford shirt, you will find a lot of oxford in this selection... and not only!
If you haven't already, I invite you to watch the VIRAL episode on this subject to learn everything about OCBD. .
Before moving on to the selection, I would like to clarify two points:
1. How do you measure the height of a shirt collar?
Like this:
2. What is a “grand col”?
The current average collar height on the market is between 5 and 6cm.
Knowing that 6.5cm seems to me to be a good option to have something larger than average, but not too imposing either.
From 7cm, a collar can be considered generous.
To learn more about shirt collars, I invite you to read this article which will teach you in particular about the appropriate length of the collar for your head.
Entry level
It's hard to find shirts with a slightly stronger style statement like a large enough button-down collar at the entry level.
Here is what I can offer you.
1. Gutteridge
The Italian brand is rarely mentioned in our columns because it does not have a store in France and did not offer deliveries in France until recently.
Having visited a boutique of the brand during a trip to Milan in 2019, I found the products correct for the price . To make a comparison, I would say that it is a little better than Massimo Dutti but below Suitsupply .
A good choice for a shirt like the one we are interested in here.

Very nice color in brown tones here.
2. Maneuvering Field
The French brand offers two button-down collar Oxford shirts (white and sky blue) with a straight cut.
The collar is not very big but quite reasonably sized.
The fabric looks quite thick.

Classic and efficient.
Mid-range
Digging deeper, you can find many mid-range brands (around €100) offering beautiful shirts with pretty button-down collars.
1. BD Baggies
BD Baggies is a historic American brand of button-down oxford shirts, just like Brooks Brothers or Gitman Vintage, which I talk about below.
The products are of honest quality but are not made in the United States.
In terms of French distributors, you can get BD Baggies at Beau Bien Store, Les Flâneurs and Elevation Store.
In Europe with delivery to France, check out Content Store London .

BD Baggies doesn't just do oxford. Here, a beautiful burgundy model in corduroy.

The unshakeable white shirt, in cotton twill here.
6. Kamakura Shirts
Kamakura is a Japanese brand created in 1993 that offers shirts made in Japan, inspired by the Ivy League, at reasonable prices.
The brand offers an impressive collection of button-down collar shirts.
Delivery is made from Japan, so customs fees may apply for delivery to France.

A yellow plaid seersucker.
7. Spier&Mckay
Spier&Mckay is a Canadian tailoring brand with a rather classic style, particularly appreciated by our colleagues at Parisian Gentleman .
Prices are affordable but the brand ships from Canada. Customs fees may apply for delivery to France.

The white oxford shirt with red stripes is also a classic model.
8. Suitsupply
The brand offers few button-down shirts but there are always two or three per season.

A denim popover. Why not.
9. Granqvist Store
Granqvist is a Swedish brand that I recently had the opportunity to mention in my nuggets .
It offers a nice range of oxford shirts, with stripes and slightly brighter colors.

A 9.5cm long collar and a rather formal-looking fabric: this shirt will go perfectly with a suit and tie ensemble.

Good Polish sartorial, relatively accessible.
We offered you the test of a 3-piece suit.
The shirts look perfectly fine to me.

An Italian fabric from Albini here. That inspires confidence.
11. Benevento
I had the opportunity to introduce you to Benevento, whose main product is pants, but the Polish brand/workshop also offers some shirts in Italian fabric from Monti.

A rather business shirt here.
High-end

Japanese selvedge denim and generous collar.
2. Berg&Berg
The Swedish brand offers beautiful shirts.
The oxford is notably Japanese and comes from Kuwamura.

3. Gitman Vintage
Gitman is an American brand that I have already had the opportunity to present .

A Singaporean brand that we talk about more for its pants, Yeossal also offers beautiful shirts for a price around €110/120.

What a pass!
10. Turnbull&Asser
The illustrious English house created in the 19th century has the Royal Warrant and offers very beautiful (and expensive) shirts in its ready-to-wear range.

A very nice shirt for rather sartorial, classic outfits.
11. Brooks Brothers
The Brooks family is credited with inventing the button-down shirt.
The brand is historic but I regularly see comments reporting a somewhat weak quality considering the price asked.
It's still worth mentioning, and I would add that you will find reasonably priced models on Yoox !

The "polo shirt", the original polo shirt.
