Do you know how to subtly wear the check pattern? – Panache S03E05

Savez-vous porter subtilement le motif carreaux ? – Panache S03E05

I realized something.

That the check is perhaps the first pattern we try when we feel strong enough to take stylistic risks. And often, it's a plaid shirt. That was your case, right?

Come on, tell me I'm right, it will warm my heart just before the season when we receive amazing gifts.

It's no coincidence that it's the checked shirt: they abound in the collections!

It's the famous lumberjack shirt that we talked about in pithy texts in GQ, the prerogative of the hipster, the paroxysm of virility for others, aesthetic interest for the latter.

For me, the plaid shirt echoes Americana and I recommend finding vintage ones from Woolrich , Pendleton , LL Bean , and Filson ; we find them at Brut for example.

But it's not so much a subtle way to wear the check. And it's neither good nor bad, it's that I find that the check when it is very contrasting, or when you wear it on the piece above it tends to eat up the rest of the outfit.

We become a walking tile pattern.

We become its connotations.

We dress up a bit.

And I don't want you to be in disguise, you hear me???? Okay, so since it's clear between us and about my excess of zeal towards you, we can meet up in this new episode of Pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-pa-panache!

“Clothes are there to have fun, so have fun” is the phrase I say the most in my videos. Style is not a set of rules, it is a field of possibilities. You can wear anything, you just have to find your way!
