On the radar of...
You know the song, our four participants share with you in this section the pieces they have in their field of vision for this 2017 school year.
Ready, set, read!
PH conquers the ideal jacket
After a few years of stylistic and sartorial wandering, and a few laughs with a friend when I wanted to redo my wardrobe and she had to make me understand that "no, these brown checkered pants were not not possible and basic! », I went back to the fundamentals, namely making things simple and effective . The fact remains that, simple and effective, it lacks flavor by force...
Today is the time for me to evolve my style!
So for 2-3 years I've been wandering through thrift stores looking for a military jacket and/or a workwear -style jacket - two trends that are sure values in men's fashion.
I find that these pieces fit well into a simple wardrobe like mine, that they bring a little character without denoting or making me look too strong in style.
Furthermore, as I am looking for a mid-season jacket, I find these pieces suitable for spending spring and autumn without any problem, when the freshness of the morning attacks or the coolness of the evening falls when I am on the terrace with friends. Simple and efficient !
The fact remains that today, I haven't found the models that caught my eye. But, I continue the research!
Killian, our chilly sportsman
I've been looking for the coat that would become the favorite piece of my winter wardrobe for a while now. It was finally at Drapeau Noir that I found this piece , which I have been eyeing for a few weeks.
I was looking for a coat that could go with everything and its navy blue color made it an ideal companion .
However, I wanted a piece of character that could give me a certain presence when I went to walk the quays of Lyon, and I found that the lines and texture of this coat perfectly met my expectations. Both imposing and elegant, the lapels constitute a nice touch of originality for me.
I grew up in the Pacific Islands so suffice to say that at the slightest cold snap I feel like I'm turning into an ice cube. Nothing better than a 100% wool coat to avoid wearing 10 layers of clothing to hope to survive the winter.
Sportsman but Sunday runner, I also want to buy a pair of running shoes which will not only motivate me to go running but will also give me the impression of doing this mental torture activity in style!
More seriously, this is not a choice to be taken lightly and I advise anyone who would like to start running (Sunday or not) to invest in a good pair of shoes dedicated to this activity.
In this area, the reputation of the Asics brand is well established and the characteristics of this product demonstrate it very well. However, I encourage you not to do like me and to go to a specialized store to get the best advice 😉
Generally when I go for a run I randomly put on a pair of shorts that are lying around in my wardrobe and that good old t-shirt that we wear for every sports session; no stylistic reflection therefore.
For my part, these shoes would be the ideal piece to raise the level and light up the track during my rare running outings.
Morjane found the coat of her dreams
If I had Queen B.'s bank account, I think my choice would fall on a piece that represents my style very well: a “hazelnut”-colored virgin wool coat from Alexander Wang. A mid-season piece (for a Parisian), I could see myself spending a few Bordeaux winters in its company!
Its slightly oversized cut and its terribly androgynous look completely captivate me! It goes just as well with a jeans/sneaker outfit as with a more formal or elegant style. The absence of closure marks the fluidity and comfort that this coat can provide.
Arthur and Puma, the start of a beautiful romance
I've been following Puma's various creations and collaborations very closely for a while now. I think they managed to successfully restore their image between the collabs with Rihanna, Kylie Jenner, etc.
So a week ago I fell in love with the collaboration with “The Weeknd” giving the Puma Parrallels .
I was won over by the color, design and finishes of the pair. It reminds me of already existing models like the classic Converse, the Air force high or even Kanye's Yeezy boots, with an additional touch on the street/chic border which makes it very elegant to my taste.
Team purchases
Let's go discover the locker room of our fantastic four together...
PH dresses in linen for this fall
Having had the opportunity to go on crazy sales this year, I had a bit of fun. One of my favorites is a pair of pants from Noyoco, brown Tenerife model . Taken in size L for a little more relaxation and ease, these linen pants are just perfect for summer, combining lightness and thermal regulation.
The advantage of having taken it in brown is that it gives me a slightly dressy but also casual look.
So I can wear it in many situations, accompanied by a t-shirt or a shirt, white sneakers or low-top Doc Martens.
My best ally for the coming summer and fall. Simple and efficient !
Killian made himself beautiful for you
As someone who wore a lot of sneakers like Stan Smiths or Vans, I had to welcome you to the store with a little more class 😉.
I have been looking for some time for a more versatile pair of sneakers that also look dressier . There are quite a few choices in this category, I am thinking in particular of National Standard, Common Projects or Pairs in Paris which offer very beautiful sneakers...
...but it was while shopping this summer that I came across this beautiful pair of Buttero .
It didn't take me very long before I decided to break the bank. The quality of the leather is there and its stitched Margom sole is irrefutable proof of a pair of shoes with exemplary finishes.
I'm really delighted with this purchase, they're very elegant shoes that go with everything and I've received a lot of compliments since I've been wearing them. Quite rigid when purchased, they softened after a few wears and are now very comfortable .
It’s very good value for money that I will continue to recommend!
Morjane: “Back to basics”
In recent years, I have noticed that the major sportswear brands are re-releasing their greatest sneaker classics (the story of which is told here in video in VIRAL).
While Adidas is a hit with all its reissues like the Stan Smith or the Superstar, Reebok, always a little further behind, is making a comeback with the “Club C” model available in several colors and materials (suede, leather).
For my part, I fell for this fantastic pair of Reebok , Club CX Face Stockholm model, a little less than a month ago. My choice fell on the purest model: an entirely white sneaker, from the sole to the logo that can go with all the outfits in my wardrobe.
A little sweetness for Arthur
The creations from Common Project catch my eye, and in particular their Chelsea boots. I find that it is an adaptable model depending on the outfit. A range of possibilities allowing you to break the codes and link different styles together.
I was also particularly fond of the pale pink color on the suede. Risky, but the result is great!
The grain of madness
Here, it is not a question of being reasonable, quite the contrary!
PH, drowned in the deep blue
Basically, I was looking for leather, which I'm still looking for, but no interesting model in sight at the moment...
On the other hand, this navy blue Dior Cashmere coat catches my eye.
I really like its classic shape, perfect for structuring a look . It can be worn perfectly with a suit, in a sartorial spirit, or with a beige sweater, raw jeans and white sneakers, in a more casual chic spirit.
This navy blue is beautiful, without being flashy. An all-purpose color but which, I think, adds depth. Classy, sophisticated, simple and effective. Still the same basic credo!
His price ? Only €3,300. A trifle!
Killian is narcissistic yes, but elegant!
I present to you the pair of derbies of my dreams ! I find them simply magnificent.
Officine Creative is an Italian shoe brand with incredible know-how. Their shoes are made by hand and they stand out for the work the artisans do on the leather which gives it a really pleasant worn and aged appearance .
Now let's talk style! Because yes, I can imagine that once you have this pair of derbies on your feet you won't go unnoticed.
To tell you the truth, I still have a lot of trouble wearing dress shoes . I never wear any, I don't even have any. I wear my suits with pairs of dressy sneakers like Buttero or National Standard.
However, I have the impression that Officine Creative is changing my mind. The originality and fairly rounded cut of these derbies keep them away from the overly classic trends with which I cannot identify.
Its cognac color and the patina of its leather give it a lot of character. I would happily wear them with raw jeans or suit pants. A great find, but I'm not yet ready to eat rice for several months...
Otherwise, for a little narcissistic touch, I wanted to introduce you to this perfume , which I love so much!
It was while walking through the streets of Paris last summer that I discovered this brand, and of course seeing the name of it I rushed to enter the store.
It is very beautiful, very well presented and we are given a warm welcome, there is nothing to say about that, except the price of the perfumes presented . After trying the famous “I have the same first name, I deserve a nice reduction”, the saleswoman was still good at sales and offered me around ten samples.
Thanks to or because of the latter, I fell under the spell of the version that I am currently presenting to you, Back to Black.
While waiting to invest, I go back to their stores from time to time, pretending to discover the brand (but shhh) in order to leave with this sample that I only use for special occasions!
For Morjane, madness is facing the rain
Now living in Bordeaux, walks by the ocean out of season will be part of my daily life! To face the elements, I started looking at a few pieces that could combine technicality and aesthetics.
Tempted by the classic yellow raincoat from Petit Bateau, I am thinking of opting for their khaki version which is more sober and which suits me more. The water-repellent material and the zip with snap closure will ensure I stay dry!
Arthur, with "ifs" we remake the world
If I had Bill Gates' bank account, I'd start with Raf Simons. In particular their spring 17 collection .
I really liked the concept of printing on clothing by transferring photos placed in atypical places on the clothing.
This creates a play between the different materials and supports that meet on the garment. Not to mention their completely unstructured and oversized cuts which I am very fond of.
The final word...
It was a return to school with great fanfare... but not only that! Between wool coats and Killian's confessions, this Brand Review was, once again, rich in emotion.
We'll see you soon for the 8th brand review. New guests, new styles, new pieces. To be continued!
