BonneGueule Podcast #6: jewelry for men

If there is one area where I have seen great progress since I became interested in men's fashion, it is that of men's jewelry.

At first, I was quite opposed to it. Then I started with a leather bracelet, the Atamé , then another one, then pearl bracelets, then silver bracelets... and today, I have no less than six bracelets on my wrist.

I didn't expect that there would always be someone to compliment you on it, or a friend to "borrow" one. I feel like a man who wears a multitude of bracelets is something quite curious in the eyes of others.

In the team, I am not the only one who has experienced such a change. Rafik has always worn a lot of rings and necklaces, unlike Luca who arrived with his wrists and fingers free of any jewelry. And little by little, he began to have many rings and bracelets in turn...

Of course, there's wearing jewelry and then there's wearing jewelry! That's what this podcast is all about.

So we will try to give you some advice based on our experience on this subject. You will learn:

  • why wear jewelry as a man,
  • if everyone can wear jewelry,
  • What was Luca's journey into jewelry?
  • why you should NEVER worry about jewelry,
  • why i started stacking bracelets...
  • ...and whether you should do it or not,
  • the state of mind to have when wearing jewelry,
  • the influence of Benoit Carpentier (creator of Marchand Drapier) in my vision of golden jewelry,
  • our point of view on watches and why to invest several in a big house,
  • and on that of piercings!

References cited

  • Catherine Michiels : the brand that needs no introduction here, the bracelets that I never take off.
  • Dacjzman: the creator of the Atamé bracelet that I wore extensively (I must have 4 colors). A great first step for those who want a masculine bracelet with a twist.
  • Harpo : the reference brand for Native American-inspired jewelry, with lots of turquoise, which Luca and Lino Ieluzzi love.
  • Tibet Forever (no website unfortunately): located at 17 rue du Bourg Tibourg in Paris, this is where Luca buys his bracelets.
  • Metal Point's : silver jewelry with an interesting "dented" look.
  • Gudule : Luca’s much-loved ethnic jewelry, at affordable prices.
  • Thomas V : jewelry made in Paris. He's the one who made a special order for Alex and me that's about to become cult! He also worked on a project with Rafik, which he's delighted with.
  • Anonymous Paris : this famous silver bracelet that I haven't taken off for two years, that I love above all. It's the " Fil d'Ariane " model from this magnificent Parisian brand, which I regret not having written articles about yet .
  • Horsehair : personalized horsehair bracelets at unbeatable prices (ask Audrey for a black horsehair bracelet with a very simple clasp for a very masculine look).
  • Madlords : the reference site for buying men's jewelry, with a beautiful, huge and varied selection.
  • Cabo de Mar : a very accessible Portuguese bracelet brand, which is enjoying great success at Pitti.
  • A cool man : entry-level brand with very casual bracelets.
  • Le Gramme : sublime high-end silver bracelets!
  • Sympa Bonnard : a "direct to consumer" brand of accessories, it offers very pretty braided leather bracelets, with a big effort made on the quality of the materials.

PS: following the numerous negative feedbacks on the brand mentioning orders not shipped for several months, we no longer recommend Trashness (see the opinions on the brand's Facebook page). We thank Mathias, a BonneGueule reader, for bringing this information to our attention.

How to listen to BonneGueule podcasts?

At the moment, they are hosted on our Soundcloud channel (which you can subscribe to) which is in my opinion the most practical, whether on a computer or a phone.

You can also find them on iTunes . ?

How do I listen to the podcast offline on my phone?

Whether you're on an iPhone or an Android phone, it's simple:

  • On iOS : you have an Apple app, installed natively, called "Podcasts". Just type "BonneGueule" in the search field, subscribe and, depending on your settings, either our podcasts will download automatically, or you can do it with a simple tap. Apple has made a very well-designed guide on how to use this resourceful app.
  • On Android : there are a plethora of equivalent applications. Simon, the geekiest of the team, uses " Podcast & Radio Addict ". The principle is exactly the same: you find BonneGueule in the search field, you subscribe and you download in the application.
  • COMING SOON: the BonneGueule podcast will be on Deezer!

This is your podcast: we're waiting for your suggestions!

The format being very easy to create, we are more than ever open to your suggestions for topics . No need for 10 hours of writing and 5 hours of illustrations here: we can be very reactive.

So don't hesitate to suggest your ideas to us, even those that have nothing to do with men's fashion .

If there is a format where we can make small parentheses in terms of the topics covered, it is this one. And then I realized during the Webinar that I really enjoyed transmitting things without necessarily being related to men's clothing, even if we inevitably come back to it (Geoffrey also likes this exercise).

See you in two weeks for the next podcast. ?
