BonneGueule x National Standard: BGNS-01, elegant and versatile sneakers

Today, I'm going to tell you about our most ambitious collaboration , the BGNS-01 sneakers, with National Standard.

What could be more representative of the BonneGueule spirit than a pair of stylish, timeless and quality sneakers ? We couldn't miss such a piece, because in the end, we wear sneakers almost every day.

Why National Standard?

François De La Rochefoucauld said that the greatest journey
always started with a first step.
So we started with a good sole from the Italian brand Margom.

You are starting to know National Standard, this beautiful French sneaker brand... It distinguished itself very early on with an unrivaled quality/price ratio in a market with no intermediary offer between sports equipment manufacturers (Adidas, Nike) and the major fashion houses. luxury (Raf Simons, Pierre Hardy, Common Project).

Indeed, the design, manufacturing, and materials are clearly high-end , but at a very good price. Moreover, without the slightest marketing budget, the brand immediately enjoyed success thanks to well-deserved word of mouth.

This quality is expressed through premium materials: the Margom sole (I will explain to you in a few moments), as well as very beautiful leathers and YKK zippers (historic luxury supplier of zippers).

Without forgetting the sewn assembly of the sole, the leather lining and the reinforcements, as well as the excellent finishing work carried out in Portugal , traditionally a leader in high-end shoes, and which has very beautiful factories for high-end sneakers. luxury.

It was therefore naturally to National Standard that we turned to create our first pair of sneakers ...

The plans for BGNS-01, which have long been top secret 😉

The BGNS-01 in detail

We wanted to make a pair that could go with everything, hence the soft and simple colors : gray (color that goes with 99% of your wardrobe), white (sporty color par excellence, I remind you! ) and a natural rubber colored sole, for the vintage and authentic side, and which brings a warmer touch.

The brainstorming on the color of the fabric for the zipper begins!

The specifications for choosing the colors, their shades, and their proportions were very simple: the sneakers had to be wearable with raw jeans of course, but also gray jeans, faded jeans, and a whole bagatelle of colored chinos, including obviously beige!

We wanted a pair of “no-brainer” sneakers, ones that you would put on spontaneously, without thinking for hours.

After the color of the zip, come the endless debates on the color of the materials...

Besides, we absolutely wanted to have a zip on the side . This is certainly a slightly more expensive feature , especially in terms of additional labor hours. But it's extremely practical, especially for a high pair. You will see, this allows you to put on the shoe much more quickly.

And since you will no longer have to tie your laces, they will keep their waxed touch for longer (yes, with National Standard, we push the detail until the finish of the laces).

The zip is made of metal and not plastic, because we wanted to reinforce the authentic side of the product . “Gun barrel” color (= dark gray) so that it blends in well with the anthracite gray leather band.

The side zip allows you to put your sneakers on and take them off more quickly.
And it's made of metal so it lasts longer!

A few words also on the sole: it is a sole from the famous Italian brand Margom , recognizable by this famous little discreet logo. You obviously know their soles, which we have seen on most luxury sneakers: Lanvin, Balenciaga, YSL (at one time) and on a whole host of other designers.

It's a company that masters the vulcanization (= welding by heating the material) of rubber very well (it's a bit like the Italian Michelin), so it makes soles that are much more durable than average, with a timeless and perfect design. in its proportions (the thickness of the sole, the size of the raised band at the front, etc.).

And most importantly: the sole is glued and sewn ! As you can imagine, this allows for much greater strength than simple gluing.

The sewn and glued Margom sole, which ensures good longevity.
The natural rubber color is a little nod to the famous GAT sneakers.
We also varied the textures on the leathers.

The sneaker is also high, so you can have fun letting it show by slipping your jeans/chinos/trousers behind the tongue. So, raw fitted jeans or tappered cut cargo pants will go together perfectly, as will chinos or wool pants.

The anthracite color of the tongue means that the sneakers fit very well with jeans, giving an impression of continuity. The other softer tones will take care of the other colors...

Be patient: we will soon show you some examples of outfits with our BGNS-01 sneakers.

And obviously: not everyone likes to wear their sneakers with the jeans behind the label. So we opted for a sufficiently thin ankle, so that you can easily put your jeans over the sneaker, in a sober and elegant way.

How big is it?

Normally.

Those who already own National Standard will take their usual size. If you are a size 43 in other brands, take a 43. If you are a size 40, simply take a 40!

Can we come and see them in real life?

Yes of course, Geoffrey and I are very happy with these sneakers. And we would be delighted to introduce them to you in our premises, in Paris (we are located in the 2nd arrondissement, Bourse metro). Come when it suits you, just remember to send us an email so that we can organize ourselves well , and you just have to stop by 😉

We also worked a lot on the tongue.

What does that mean in terms of quantities?

Since the order was placed a long time ago, we have 298 pairs. I would tend to say that there will be something for everyone, but every time I have gone forward on this, I have always been wrong, even if only recently with the 520 BGLY t-shirts which are are sold within 24 hours. So this time, I won't get ahead of myself, just know that there are just under 300 pairs available for sale.

Especially since we always manage to be a little cheaper than the brands we work with (themselves already selected for their quality/price ratio).

Sizes will go from 39 to 45: 39 (24 pairs), 40 (36 pairs), 41 (48 pairs), 42 (72 pairs), 43 (59 pairs), 44 (35 pairs), 45 (24 pairs).

And the price will be communicated to you on the day (it will be a bit cheaper than the usual price of the brand's zipped models).

When does it come out?

Sunday April 7 at 2 p.m.! As usual, only those subscribed to the newsletter will receive the registration link, so stay tuned! ( the registration form is at the top right of the blog: we communicate about the few collaborations there, but above all we send gifts and content not published on BonneGueule ).

You can register now...
