After presenting our GOTS organic cotton hoodies, our raw denim and our scarf , let's move on to the piece that will become your faithful ally for the winter: our wool and cashmere coat, available in two colors.
But before I tell you how much I love the fabric, I just want to give a shout out to the whole team behind this coat:
A collaborative design
Before going into detail about the creation of this coat, I would like to thank all the women on the team who were involved in this piece.
It was mainly Charlotte, Sarah and Emilie from the product department who successfully carried out the "women's coat project", by collecting the opinions of the women in the entire team - not just those from the product department - on the prototypes, the cut and the fabric.
And when I hear in the corridors of our offices "as soon as this coat comes out on Saturday, I'll get it straight away!", I know that they have worked really hard and that they have put all their passion into this coat that you are about to discover.
Thanks again to you, for bringing this highly anticipated piece to life!
And now let’s get into the details…
Why a women’s coat at BonneGeule?
Because we love 100% natural materials!
Because above all, we love outerwear at BonneGueule! It's a type of piece on which we can really express our love of beautiful materials, work on the silhouette, etc.
But more concretely, on the women's clothing market, I found that it was difficult to find a coat with 0% polyester, polyamide or acrylic. , even with a budget between 300 and 500 €.
A coat made from 100% natural materials (wool and cashmere here) is also a coat with optimal warmth, and which regulates your temperature well.
But these materials, with 0% synthetic, are also more expensive, which is why we rarely come across them anywhere other than in very high-end brands, those that are not very accessible.
But these are also the materials that we prefer at BonneGueule, because in addition to being 100% natural, they are also the most beautiful, with a luxurious and soft feel.
And now let's see where we found this magnificent wool and cashmere sheet.
A wool and cashmere cloth from the Italian Texco
Ah, how I love this Italian draper!
He is the one behind the 100% yak fabric of one of our most popular coats, for example.
It is a partner that works only with luxury brands, so it is used to weaving very beautiful woolen cloths with very high quality raw materials. Everything is spun, woven, dyed and finished in Italy, around the city of Prato.
By wearing this coat, you will therefore be able to experience a beautiful example of Italian know-how in terms of softness, flexibility, color and durability!
So here is the composition of this coat:
- 90% wool
- 10% recycled cashmere, GRS certified
In terms of thickness, we are at around 580 grams per linear meter, which corresponds to a "real" fabric for fall winter. To give you an idea, this corresponds to the thickest thicknesses that we use for our other winter coats.
Thanks to Texco's mastery, the fabric remains very supple and fluid, with a real high-end feeling.
Two colors: a sumptuous greige and a timeless navy blue
In fall/winter, I'm a big fan of greige/sand tones, because I find they brighten up an outfit. So we chose to offer this coat in this color, a nod to the color of our yak coat that was unanimously appreciated.
It's a mix of beige and gray, with a subtle heather. And it's a color that was specially developed for us by Texco.
The second colorway is a navy blue, for those who want timeless elegance and an ultra versatile color.
Manufactured by Lener Cordier
To create this coat, we had to work with a completely new manufacturer, specializing in high-end women's coats. And this is the case of the Lener Cordier house, whose showroom is located a few meters from our offices, by chance!
It is a French company, which has a small workshop in the north of France for the development of its parts or the manufacture of very small series, and another workshop in Ukraine for its productions.
Our coat was developed in the French workshop (prototypes, cut, fall, fit, etc.) then it was manufactured in Eastern Europe, in a factory that belongs to Lener Cordier, and above all, which specializes in the high end.
A straight cut for styling and layering
As Emilie, our quality manager, would say, it’s a straight cut without being oversized.
The interest of this cut?
It is multiple:
- adapt to many body shapes,
- give a casual style, which contrasts nicely with the high-end wool and cashmere cloth,
- be able to comfortably wear a thick sweater or other thick clothing underneath.
It's also a double-breasted coat, meaning there are two rows of buttons on the bust. Visually, they add structure, and when they're closed, I find it adds a certain timeless elegance:
The finishes of this coat
Some are uncommon in women's fashion...
The famous microfleece lined pockets
This is a finish that is extremely popular on our men's coats, so we wanted to use it for our first women's coat. It's a detail borrowed from clothing for very cold weather that allows you to warm your hands. And I guarantee that once you've tried it, you can't do without it!
One interior zipped pocket
In the kind of detail that no one thinks about but is incredibly practical, the interior zipped pocket is an element that is important to me, because it allows you to "secure" some personal effects and prevent them from falling out when you hold your folded coat on your arm or on a chair.
The counter buttons
This is a finish that is mainly found in luxury: the horn buttons are sewn on the tail, but in addition to that, to keep them solid, they are reinforced by counter buttons inside the coat. When we tell you that we want to create a durable coat…
The question of price
If you've only recently discovered BonneGueule, this paragraph may surprise you, because it's unusual for a brand to talk openly about the price of its pieces.
And yet, it is still an important element in a garment.
To return to this coat, when we have:
- a wool and cashmere sheet, with 0% synthetic,
- woven by a renowned Italian draper accustomed to working with luxury,
- and manufactured in Europe,
… this is not a coat that can cost €200. You can't cheat on the price of such a fabric and on a confection in Europe. The price will be a little higher, but I assure you, it will be under €450, for a quality that would easily cost €500-€600 elsewhere.
In fact, if you know the price of our men's coats, you won't be put off by the price of our women's coat, I assure you!
