We often distinguish two categories of clothing:
- Those that are practical, comfortable, even technical, and that make us sink into the guilty pleasure of wearing them again and again.
- Those who are beautiful, with a worked aesthetic that takes the style up a notch.
This week, we decided to offer you pieces that can do both:
- A technical hoodie . Thermo-regulating padding and advanced style - presented today
- A striped henley . A little comfort and originality - presentation Thursday
- Denim joggers . Softness and relaxed look - presentation Thursday
- From sneakers to... Ventilate! For jumping in puddles, it's still more beautiful than rubber - presentation Friday
- A cap, also in Ventile. Cool version of the umbrella - presentation Friday
Today, time for the hoodie!
Be careful, atypical piece in sight…
We all have a sweatshirt or hoodie that we love, especially because of its comfort.
We wanted to explore this avenue, but by going even further, thanks to a unique cotton jersey and one of the best synthetic insulators on the market.
For those in a hurry, here are the key points to remember:
- it is a natural, undyed cotton, which gives a truly unique color
- the lining is organic cotton
- it's a hoodie that we wanted to be as comforting as a duvet, thanks to the Climashield insulation
Natural organic cotton
It's an organic cotton from the Japanese supplier Morishita, with all the subtle heather we know from them.
Brown cotton?
The color of this hoodie is in fact the natural color of cotton, when it has not undergone any dyeing. It is therefore a brown organic cotton that was used.
It is a variety that requires less water than white cotton, so it is more economical in terms of resources used.
Brown cotton is also more resistant to insects, so fewer pesticides are required, making it an ideal candidate for organic farming.
And since there is no dyeing afterwards, we still save water and energy.
The colors of nature are magnificent if you take the time to look at them closely, and that is what we wanted to convey with this brown cotton. We really liked this unique color, between sand, ocher and saffron.
Since it is a cotton that has not undergone any dyeing process, the colors may vary very slightly from one piece to another.
Color can also evolve over time, in the same way that an indigo patina nicely. Like clothes with natural dyes, you just need to avoid letting it dry in direct sunlight for an entire afternoon.
Since it is a color that can be found in nature, it will easily match tones of blue, white, olive and even gray.
A GOTS organic cotton lining
To have this “comforting duvet” feeling, we wanted a very soft lining, so we chose an organic cotton jersey.
Besides, it's not "just" a jersey lining: the quality of the jersey of this lining means that we could have used it for a t-shirt without any problem!
Cozy insulation in Climashield Combat
This is a particularity of this hoodie: it has insulation between two layers of jersey. It is thanks to this Climashield insulation that there is such a pleasant feeling when you put it on!
Regarding Climashield, I have explained at length why I love this insulation so much, so I will recall the key points:
- they are continuous filaments: it therefore has much better resistance over time, and it will not disintegrate
- it resists compression very well, it regains its loft very quickly
- it wicks away moisture, unlike down which has difficulty managing it
For more details on the Climashield, I invite you to (re)read the article presenting our coach jacket .
Why Climashield Combat?
You know me, you know that I like Climashield Apex, but this time, we opted for Climashield Combat.
It's almost the same thing, except that in complete transparency, it is a little less hot for equal weight (this is at 0.06 clo) but - and this is why we chose it - it is also known to be more durable.
For a cotton piece that will have to be machine washed frequently, I wanted insulation with the best durability in washing.
And given that Climashield Combat is used for sleeping bags and cold weather jackets for the US military, from the US Navy to special forces, I figured I could be confident about its durability in the weather.
In terms of weight, we took the lightest, namely 67g/m2. To give you an idea, this is the weight used by outdoor brands for their light mid layers, so it is perfect for this hoodie which should be pleasant to wear over a wide thermal range.
A ventilation zip
As you have seen, at the throat, there is a zip, which is not only decorative.
It actually has two functions:
- visually, it brings personality to this room
- it allows you to open the hoodie a little to provide ventilation and even better regulate your heat
The size guide
The measurements are a little different from our usual hoodie because we had to take into account the insulation of this hoodie. But that doesn't mean you have to change size: if you size M for our t-shirts and sweatshirts, take M here too.
