Patchwork clothing always catches my eye when I see it.
I'm talking about pieces made with pieces of fabric of different sizes, colors, materials.
The style bias is daring, but when it is successful, the wow effect is really there.
Mac - Needles
Needles is a brand that I don't know much about but whose clothes I sometimes see, especially on Mr.Porter.
A quick search tells me that it is a high-end Japanese streetwear brand.
The piece I am presenting to you is not at all streetwear: it is a mackintosh coat, so rather casual style with military influences.
This mac is in cotton patchwork with shades of ecru, beige and sand.
More precisely, it looks like it was pieces of chinos that were used . In particular, we can see on the right arm a belt loop and a pocket with a flap and a button.
The pieces are cut irregularly but a beautiful harmony emerges from the piece :
- On the one hand because the color palette is natural, revolving around beige
- But also because there is a bit of structure in this garment: look at the inserts at the shoulders for example, relatively clean.
This piece is also not excessively expensive as the brand's other creations can be. For good reason: it’s a second-hand item of clothing, found on Marrkt. I presented this platform in more detail in this article .
As this is a second-hand product, there is only one copy available, in size S.
I find that the piece remains relatively portable thanks to the color palette, close to what one could find on a classic Mac.
Noragi - Kapital
We continue with a noragi from the Japanese brand Kapital.
We are here on a denim theme , with the use of pieces with different washes: raw, lightly washed, medium washed.
We can note the different construction of the collar, with light denim on its upper part, which contrasts and catches the eye, and presumably black denim on the bottom.
It's not completely visible in this photo, but there is a cord that allows you to tie the piece at the waist.
Also note: the sleeves are standard length here. Indeed, noragi jackets often have short sleeves, called 3/4, which reach around the middle of the forearm.
We are once again on a piece that is original in its construction but portable thanks to a material that is familiar.
Dressing gown - The Merchant Fox
Certainly, this dressing gown is overpriced (more than €1600) and, what's more, out of stock.
But we must admit that she is sublime.
The Merchant Fox is the e-shop of the renowned English clothier Fox Brothers. There you can buy fabrics from the brand as well as some ready-to-wear pieces, including this dressing gown.
It was Chris, a reader who introduced me to this address, and I thank him.
This beautiful bathrobe is made from several pieces of Fox Brothers wool fabrics : houndstooth, chalk stripes, Prince of Wales, herringbone... if you like tailoring and beautiful suiting fabrics, there is no doubt that this piece will catch your eye.
As with the other two garments in this selection, it is a relative sobriety in the colors chosen which makes this piece wearable: we find grey, navy blue and a greige collar (grey/beige).
Soft colors, in luxurious materials, with lots of different textures and patterns that make you feel a little dizzy.
We touch with our eyes.
To console you, know that the eshop offers other dressing gowns , in stock. They are more sober in their approach. Still count on more than €800 for this luxury.
