I have the pleasure of closing this wonderful series of podcasts dedicated to holidays in France. Having started my career as a gastronomic journalist, I am obviously sensitive to the subject. With the conviction that discovery can be very beautiful nearby, which is not incompatible with my taste for distant travel and a change of scenery. There, I will show you my end of the world, the Cotentin. With a small foray into Corsica.

The Cotentin

1. To see, to do

Tatihou Island . An exotic name for this small island, a bird paradise. It is possible to reach it on foot at low tide or by boat on wheels for those who do not have the courage. On site a pretty garden to visit and a small museum. In August 2021, don't miss the festival, the Traversées Tatihou.

GR223 . Nothing better than hiking to discover how beautiful these coasts are, nothing better to take a breath of fresh air. Whether it's raining, windy or sunny, it's always magnificent, in all seasons.

2. For a drink

Cafe de France. A simple café, an ideal stopover to drink coffee and read the newspaper, facing the port. We eat well there too.
When returning from fishing, it is possible to stock up on fresh fish.
12, Quai Henri Chardon 50760 Barfleur. Such. : 02 33 54 00 38

The Gull 1951 . A bar on the beach, a great welcome, a very chill atmosphere. Good live music or not. The only risk is wanting to stay there. The Guardian ranks it among the 10 best beach bars in France.
82, route du Phare 50760 RĂ©ville. Such. : 06 20 88 44 69

3. To enjoy

Gosselin House . This historic address, run by the same family for more than 130 years, is the haunt of gourmands and gourmets. Leaving this delicatessen without buying anything is a real challenge as everything tempts you. And I always failed. Their whiskey and rum cellar is worth a visit.
27, Rue de VerrĂĽe 50550 St-Vaast-La-Hougue. Such. : 02 33 54 40 06

sablette . If you come by, I would like a box of them.

6, rue du Port Sinope 50310 Quinéville Tel. : 02.33.40.68.51
3 bis, rue de VerrĂĽe 50500 Saint Vaast la Hougue. Such. : 02 33 42 64 96

Jean's Mill . For more than 20 years, Jean-Marie Lenfant has been delighting in this pretty house with a relaxing setting, set in the middle of a beautiful green countryside. Here two clues indicate that the address is worth the detour: the menu is short and changes every week. Making wonderful use of the Normandy region, he adds just the right amount of fusion food , notably with flavors from the Orient.
La Lande, 50670 Cuves. Such. : 02 33 48 39 29

Corsica

1. To enjoy

At Edgar's . In this farm inn, the choice of meal is quick because it is unique: herb tart, Corsican soup and spit-roasted meat, of which the house has made a specialty. Know that what you are served on the plate comes from the farm. Reservation essential.
20225 Lavatoggio Tel. : 04 95 61 70 75

2. To sleep

Hotel Monte d'Oro . The ideal address on the GR20 path, between two refuges. Time has stood still in this pretty 19th century building, which is an invitation to the sweetness of life, to sip a drink on the prettily flowered terrace. And what a lovely welcome, like at home. Well, we will still have to think about leaving again.
Col de Vizzavona, 20219 Vivario. Such. : 06 14 36 36 07

Laurence also took part in the exercise of recounting her vacation in France, which can be read here on the Plume Voyage website.
