With REAL WOOL!
You know my personal passion for outdoor clothing and my taste for beautiful materials. So I had to offer a different vision of the fleece jacket , this essential item of clothing for all nature lovers, which we see more and more in the city.
And for good reason, this garment is not lacking in qualities: warm, soft, windproof and with undeniable style.
The observation I made is that most of these parts are made of synthetic material , and I couldn't bring myself to do so. We wanted one with wool.
Be careful, a 100% synthetic fleece also makes sense, but I wanted a really nice fleece, with a material that you don't usually see in others .
So yes, I’ll say it again and I’ll say it again, it’s a REAL WOOL fleece!
Such material is not easy to find but finally we found it… and in France please!
A REAL KNITTED WOOL FLEECE MADE IN FRANCE
BY JULES TOURNIER
On this piece, having a material created in France , with wool from French sheep, where most of the other fleeces are synthetic, is my greatest pride .
So the knitting + for this fleece comes from the French supplier Jules Tournier, one of the last French wool makers , with whom we have been working for a long time on the woolen cloth for some of our coats.
So let's see the composition of this fleece:
70% GOTS FRENCH SHEEP WOOL
She's the one who does most of the work on this fleece. It provides warmth by trapping a lot of air. Moreover, given the thickness, you will have very good thermal insulation, especially against the wind.
If you have a parka that is loose and light enough to put on top to trap even more air, quite frankly you have what it takes to face negative temperatures all year round.
But back to our subject… Yes, I also know how to be humorous.
It's merino from Arles to be precise, GOTS certified, guaranteeing both environmental and working conditions! Finally, it is also a mulesing free wool. No animal abuse during mowing!
FOR THE LITTLE STORY :
It is the oldest breed of sheep in Europe with soft wool due to the fineness of its fibers (around 20 microns).
Note: in this particular photo, it is a proto, and on production, the braids on the sleeves will be ecru and not optical white.
13% BAMBOO VISCOSE OEKOTEX 100
It may come as a surprise but it is a choice by Jules Tournier to bring a little softness to the wool. When you have it in your hands, it makes a difference.
Another important point: bamboo viscose is Oeko Tex 100 certified . This is important to us because not all bamboo viscose is made in good conditions.
17% POLYESTER (YES, WE HAD TO PUT IT IN… BUT IT’S RECYCLED!)
But this is not a defeat, the polyester is in fact decisive in the hold of the fleece.
His role is “backing”. Basically, it is the basis of the fabric on which this soft wool rests. And it is technically essential, otherwise the wool would completely disintegrate at the slightest friction. +
TO SUMMARIZE WHY THIS FLEECE IS DIFFERENT FROM OTHERS
Its material is constructed in two parts:
- on the outside: it's French sheep's wool for warmth and a little bamboo for softness
- inside: it is the recycled polyester backing which solidifies everything, to keep them for years
THE CUP
LIKE A WOOL COCOON
I wanted a cut that gave an imposing, almost reassuring silhouette, and that when you tried it on, you felt this “cocoon” side.
So this fleece is cut like outerwear , and since the material is thick, it has this impression of volume that I really like.
It is not a fine fleece, you should rather consider this piece as the equivalent of a good jacket.
Besides, that's also why we wanted raglan sleeves: in addition to giving a little retro touch, it gives comfort, which went well with the philosophy of this piece.
Fleece, secret hoodie and BonneGueule cargo pants. Converse sneakers.
THE THERMAL AMPLITUDE OF FLEECE
3 SEASONS OUT OF 4!
At what temperatures can I wear this piece? That's a very good question !
With just a shirt or t-shirt underneath, I think you can go a long way in spring , especially in the evening as soon as the sun sets during an evening on the terrace.
And obviously, for fall and winter, it's a really ideal piece , and depending on what you wear underneath this piece, you have a wide thermal range.
WHAT ABOUT THE FINISHES?
FOR PRACTICALITY: 3 ZIPPERED POCKETS AND 1 MESH POCKET
Note the raglan shoulder for more comfort with this kind of thick material.
There are three zipped pockets on the outside, so you don't risk losing your valuables.
Inside, there is a large mesh pocket to quickly slip in some personal belongings. It is a finish inspired by the American army's fleece jacket, in its PCU system (" Protecting Clothing Uniform ").
The mesh used in the interior pocket allows two things:
- do not create excess thickness
- and have a well-ventilated pocket, which is useful if you put on a slightly damp glove or neck gaiter. It will dry much better thanks to the heat of your body
A pocket that will be happy to accommodate gloves, hats, neck warmers, masks, etc., allowing them to air well!
TO REINFORCE THE PERSONALITY OF THIS FLEECE
The collar band and the chest pocket are in ecru velvet in 74% cotton and 26% linen. It's the same material as our January fatigue pants. It gives a little subtlety that doesn't contrast too much, just the right amount of personality for our taste.
Yes, it's the same velvet as our fatigue pants, because we found that the color went perfectly with the ecru of the wool.
BE CAREFUL, FRIENDS…
…THERE WILL NOT BE FOR EVERYONE
On a piece with such a bias, we did not want to put ourselves at risk , because we placed an order in the middle of Covid, at a time when it was difficult to plan…
So we ordered "only" 200 pieces and, since then, I have received a lot of questions, especially when I spoke live about our project to make a fleece mainly in wool.
And I know that there is a long wait for this piece , so if you want it, don't wait too long on the day of the order on Saturday February 26 at 11 a.m. , it risks selling out as quickly as our perfecto released. last year at the same time, that is to say in less than an hour.
