MEASUREMENTS YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN CHOOSING A SWEATER/CARDIGAN
If you want to buy a sweater or cardigan without being able to try it on, it is good to have your measurements on hand to be sure you make the right choice.
Once you know them, getting it wrong becomes almost impossible.
Take your measuring tapes!
Here's a tip that will make your life easier: if you already have a sweater that suits you perfectly, you can use it as a standard for all your other purchases.
I advise you to watch this video that Tom created for you, it's all there.
Let's recap now.
MEASUREMENT A: SHOULDER TO SHOULDER
We take the first mark at the shoulder seam, to look for its opposite.
MEASUREMENT B: ARMPIT-TO-ARMIT
Under the armpit seam, we block the end of the tape, and we pick up the opposite seam.
MEASUREMENT C: SWEATER LENGTH
Place the ribbon in the middle of the shoulder then go along the length to finish at the end of the sweater.
MEASUREMENT D: SLEEVE LENGTH
Stretch the tape measure from the outside of the shoulder seam to the end of the sweater sleeve.
If you don't have the right size piece on hand...no worries. Here's how to take your measurements...
HOW TO TAKE MEASURES ?
THE CHEST
To get your bust measurement, pass the measuring tape around the most prominent part of your chest.
Note : the chest measurement is equivalent to the armpit-to-armpit measurement (which I talked about above) multiplied by two.
BACK LENGTH
Always good to know to avoid ending up with a sweater that is too short. This measurement will not be indicated in the ready-to-wear item, do not hesitate to ask the customer service of the e-shop where you plan to order.
Now let's see how these measurements translate into clothing sizes!
CONVERSION TABLES
Sizes may vary a little from brand to brand, but here is a chart to convert your body measurements into clothing sizes.
