MEASUREMENTS YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN CHOOSING A BLAZER
If you want to buy a blazer without being able to try it on (which happens), it is good to have your measurements on hand to be sure you make the right choice.
Once you know them, getting it wrong becomes almost impossible.
Take your measuring tapes!
Here's a tip that will make your life easier: if you already have a blazer that suits you perfectly, you can use it as a standard for all your other purchases.
I advise you to watch this video that Tom created for you, it's all there!
Let's recap now.
MEASUREMENT A: WIDTH AT BUTTON LEVEL
We place the end of the ribbon at the height of the button on the side, and we finish at its opposite.
MEASUREMENT B: SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WIDTH
We start from the outside of the shoulder seam and look at its end to find the measurement.
MEASUREMENT C: SLEEVE LENGTH
We start below the shoulder seam and reach the end of the sleeve.
MEASUREMENT D: BACK LENGTH
Place the end of the ribbon below the collar, then find the end of the back of the blazer.
If you don't have the right size piece on hand...no worries. Here's how to take your measurements!
SHOULDER TO SHOULDER WIDTH
To obtain this measurement, you must start from the acromion (the pointed bone that marks the intersection between your shoulder and your arm) on one side to go to the acromion of the other shoulder, following the back.
CHEST SIZE
To obtain your chest measurement, pass the tape measure around the most prominent part of it.
Note: The chest measurement is equivalent to the armpit to armpit length (which I talked about above) multiplied by two.
SLEEVE LENGTH
Your sleeve length corresponds to the measurement from the shoulder bone (acromion for short) to the wrist. The tape measure does not follow the arm.
BACK LENGTH
Back length is the measurement from the end of your neck (from the bone) to... wherever you want! Let me explain: the back length determines the length of your jacket, so it's up to you to determine what length Blazer you want to have.
Now that you have all these measurements, let's look at the conversion charts to see how they translate to clothing sizes!

Note : if you are hesitant, contact the customer service of the site on which you intend to purchase and communicate your measurements (which you were able to take thanks to these explanations).
THE DETAILS THAT SHOW YOU WHEN A BLAZER IS THE RIGHT SIZE (AND OTHER TIPS)
When trying on a blazer in store, pay attention to the following points to make sure it fits you like a glove:
- The collar of the shirt you are wearing appears entirely,
- Light tension folds form in a star shape at the first button (a jacket can be tried on and appreciated closed),
- You can fit about a fist between the first button and the sternum,
- The bending follows your shape,
- Arms relaxed, the sleeves end at the ulna (the wrist bone, not the dog),
- There should be as few creases as possible in the back of the jacket, including tension creases.
- The lapels must be tackled.
