Massimo Dutti

Our opinion

Updated September 2020

If there wasn't really a good quality/price ratio at Massimo Dutti a few years ago, things have changed and a certain number of pieces can be worth it, especially on sale.

The blazers and suits (including some three-piece sets) are of honest quality , often in natural materials, with well-chosen colors and patterns. At this price, the construction is logically heat-sealed.

The brand also offers a few knits with an interesting style each season, often without synthetics as well.

We generally advise against anything related to leather .

In winter, you can find some affordable 100% wool coats , in rather fine materials and therefore not very warm, with a view to reducing costs.

You have to be vigilant and sort to find the interesting pieces.

That being said, Massimo Dutti is today a correct address for entry-level ready-to-wear.

The history of the brand Massimo Dutti

Massimo Dutti is a brand created in 1985 and part of the Inditex group with, among others, Zara, Bershka and Pull&Bear.

Initially created only for men, the brand subsequently diversified and released its first women's collection in 1992, followed shortly after by its first children's collection. The universe aims to be radically different from other brands in the Inditex group.

Where Zara, Bershka and Pull&Bear want to be “young and trendy”, Massimo Dutti wants to be more elegant and refined. A sort of “high-end Inditex”, in short.

Initially sold as a true high-end brand, Massimo Dutti was regularly singled out and described as a label playing on a "luxury" image while the quality of the clothes was rather average.

However, things gradually evolved, and the brand "de-bourgeoised" to gradually become the " casual chic " label from Inditex. Due to this turnaround, the quality/price ratio of clothing has improved.
