Summary
thank you Jamy !).WOOL QUALITIES AND LABELS
The quality of merino wool is expressed in the form “ extra-fine super ” (then a number from 80 to 200). The higher the number, the finer and softer the fiber .
Merino sheep produce high quality fiber, but are not the best. Other animals like goats ( alpaca , vicuña and vicuna are the most expensive fibers in the world! Count on €520 for a pair of socks at Mazarin .
SOME SMALL IMPORTANT DETAILS
Some lower quality products whose fibers have been recycled may still display 100% wool/pure wool .
The name " virgin wool " may contain 7% other fibers (synthetic) although the label indicates "100% wool". This legal ratio increases to 0.3% for the “pure virgin wool” designation.
The WOOLMARK label guarantees the use of premium quality virgin wool taken from healthy, living animals .
This is an excellent indicator!
