My 6 essentials for a long weekend in London – David’s checklist

Here I am again to present you another suitcase from the summer. After Italy , we are going to our English neighbors.

I've never been to the UK yet, but it's not far away. So I'm thinking of spending a long weekend in London when the weather is right, to get my fix of cups of tea , double-decker buses and Savile Row.

I need fairly light clothing, but also one or two more covering pieces and a good raincoat.

I'm wearing a BonneGueule t-shirt and shirt on screen.

Raincoat - Well Made

beige mac imper white pants

My favorite raincoat. It's also the only one I own.

It is a long, rather loose rain jacket, in a Mac shape, with a removable hood.

It's made of water-repellent, breathable, crisp Japanese cotton. The material is quite unique: imagine Japanese Ventile. That's pretty much it.

I put it on as soon as it rains in the mid-season.

I also wear it even when it's not raining, by the way.

Oxford overshirt - Editions MR

This is a prototype from the French brand Editions MR. It is a thick overshirt in white oxford with pink stripes. It is the first pink garment I have bought in a long time.

It's a real boxy cut with the same width at the chest, waist and bottom. The bottom is also straight , which gives an almost jacket look to this piece.

This overshirt reminds me a bit of the English preppy style and I find that it brings a touch of freshness to my outfits. In this case, I wear a lot of blue pants, and blue + pink works very well.

Linen and silk shirt - Arket

khaki shirt with pockets

I really like this shirt . Here are the reasons:

  1. The material: a beautiful blend of 58% linen, 42% silk. Silk is a luxurious replacement for cotton, light, bright, soft, breathable and reduces the creases in the garment.
  2. The color: a very beautiful khaki, right between beige and green
  3. The cut: straight, therefore comfortable and quite appropriate here
  4. The details: two very well-felt slanted chest pockets as well as pretty Mother of Pearl buttons

It will be perfectly suited over a light white t-shirt or under a cardigan, jacket, windbreaker, etc.

Printed vest - MAN 1924

green camo vest

A very nice casual vest from the Spanish brand MAN 1924, composed of:

  • From a main material with camouflage/palm print in cotton, linen, Japanese ramie with lots of grain
  • Two beautiful patch pockets in crisp cotton
  • And a beige cotton twill back

It's a perfect layering piece to add style and a touch of warmth for the changeable English weather.

Stretch cargo pants - Cadot

cargo pants green brown moccasin

To dress my legs, I choose these Cadot cargo pants with a bit of elastane, so they are very comfortable and can be worn all day without any worries.

It stands out with this belt assembly that I really like . There is a drawstring with wooden tips and loops to be able to put a belt if you wish.

You will also notice the presence of a discreet clip on each leg: it is a detail that you don't necessarily expect on a cargo and which makes the pants a little more dressy.

Cleated Boat Shoes - Sebago

brown green loafer with studs

I don't own any proper English shoes, like a good pair of brogues for example.

So I chose these Sebago boat shoes, whose style I find extremely successful although quite unusual.

I presented them here .

They are characterized by a green cotton canvas insert on the upper and a fairly thick sole with studs, which offers very good grip on the ground, which is useful for walking on wet ground!

Bonus - Rain sneakers - Novesta

white rubber high top sneaker

We have told you a few times about the Allweather sneaker which is perfectly suited to urban bad weather in hot weather. .

Here I offer you a slightly more affordable alternative. It is the Rubber Sneaker from Novesta, a brand that I like because it offers pretty canvas sneakers, made in Europe. , honest quality, all at an affordable price.

This model is characterized by a double layer of rubber:

  • One that represents the sole you walk on
  • Another one that goes up on the upper and provides additional protection to the shoe against water and other splashes.

I think the design is very successful and manages to bring a little "rubber boot" side to a traditional high-top sneaker shape.

It will be perfect for hitting the London pavement with peace of mind and style.

David Hao, maximum soft tailoring

I think clothing can be a beautiful means of personal development. I like unstructured jackets, straight pants and loafers.
