#1: The timeless charm of shaggy dog sweaters
To spice up your wardrobe routine, there’s nothing like a sweater with real character. And the least we can say is that the shaggy dog sweater has plenty of it:
- a crewneck and raglan sleeves that create an iconic shape,
- a distinctive fluffy texture, originally stemming from the lively Shetland wool, which was sourced from the sheep of the same name, and an innovative brushing process developed in the early 20th century by the brand J. Press.
Quickly adopted by American university students in the 1950s, movie stars, and even John F. Kennedy, the shaggy sweater became an Ivy League style icon. However, the mere nature of Shetland wool can sometimes make it a bit rough on the skin, which might not sit well with the more sensitive souls. And we are indeed quite sensitive—but fortunately, we’re also sensitive to the craftsmanship of Italian spinners.
