The adventure of a unique denim
100% cotton, 16.6 oz, woven the traditional way in Japan.
An adventure not everyone will have the pleasure of experiencing, as fabrics with such authentic texture are becoming increasingly rare. As the industry modernizes, production speeds up, and denims become flatter, our weaver Nihon Menpu takes the time to let the natural beauty of the denim shine through on old shuttle looms. He is one of the last Japanese weavers to do things the traditional way, as these machines are costly to maintain and master—but it's worth it!
This adventure is only just beginning, as it is on you that this denim will truly become unique: it will fade gradually based on how you wear and wash it, revealing richer and more varied indigo tones than most raw jeans. For this, we say Arigato to Nihon Menpu, who also takes the time to manually dip the yarns in indigo to ensure they are only partially dyed (this is known as "rope dyeing").
And to make sure everything goes smoothly for your other clothes, we’ve given the denim a One Wash at the workshop.
