How to Care for Your Pants

Our pants are made from high-quality natural fibers, including cotton, linen, and wool. Discover our tips for properly caring for your Bonnegueule pants so they stay looking great for a long time.

Basic guidelines for washing your pants

First and foremost, always follow the care instructions on the label.

Cotton pants: machine wash. Sometimes, cotton pants need to be dry-cleaned due to their construction or fabric composition.

For cotton trousers, remember to wash them before having them altered. A slight shrinkage may occur during the first wash. This way, you can be sure they will be exactly at the length that suits you.

Wool, linen, or blended (e.g., wool/linen/silk) pants: dry clean only. Wool and linen are more delicate materials that can lose their shape or shrink if machine washed. Be sure to request dry cleaning (without water) and not aquapressing, which uses water and can damage the garment.

There is no need to wash your pants after every wear: washing them too frequently wears out the fabric faster than wearing them does. Instead, air them out between wears. For cotton pants: you can wash them every 5 to 10 wears depending on usage (heat, sweat, environment). For wool or linen pants, this can be a bit longer thanks to the antibacterial properties of these fibers. Aim for 10 to 15 wears.

Machine wash (if permitted)

For cotton pants, follow these steps:

Turn the pants inside out before washing.

Fasten the button and zip.

Wash at 30°C maximum, spin cycle on low.

Avoid overloading the machine and wash with similar colors.

Avoid the dryer, which can distort or shrink the pants.

Drying

Air dry on a hanger.

Avoid direct heat sources (radiators, strong sunlight).

Ironing

Lightly iron if necessary, especially for dress pants.

You can set or refresh the center crease with an iron and a little steam.
