"Bowl cut, pouty face and casual style, I have always found that my dad's elegance comes from a little nonchalant side. A combination of a round-neck wool sweater, a shirt and chino pants. Simple elements and sober shades, so that everything can harmonize. So, no headache in the morning! An idea of the masculine wardrobe that he still keeps today. He says he doesn't care and that his look is not his priority.

I find him handsome and well-dressed in all circumstances. Maybe because he's my dad, or because he has a solid base there made up of timeless pieces? I wouldn't find anything eccentric in his current wardrobe, no bright colors, no patterns, apart from this checked shirt that he's had in triplicate since the 60s like a Proust madeleine. He says it's "timeless"; and I agree with him, as always!" - Manon

Camille's dad

"Before that white shirt, my father was more of a rebel. Cowboy boots, ripped jeans and rock in his ears. He settled down in the 80s, when he met my mother who preferred Jean Jacques Goldman ties to ripped denim. Coincidence? I don't think so, but as you can see, he still kept his Schott flight jacket and his adventurous soul close to him." - Camille

"Do you see a family resemblance? Of course, it's my father! (well, I still have my hair)!

My father is an outsider, a country guy, one of those who never rests. He's the one who introduced you to fishing at 4 years old, camping, looooooong walks, the one who lets you play with his tools even though you're way too young, in short, a dad of his time. An adventurer who likes to surpass himself, he reminds me of Hemingway (for the good sides, eh).

Always in “work clothes”, and he’s the one who tells me, he had trouble finding these photos. In jeans, black t-shirts, clothes that weren’t exactly glamorous (although, when you think of Brando or Dean), but everyday clothes, comfortable clothes, easy to care for. Cotton, little color, sturdy, and big sweaters, always. And the older I get, the more I think he was a visionary haha.

So, I'll spare you the photo of his favorite piece of clothing: a black fleece, burnt and patched up, a gift from a trial association of which he was a member." - Matthias

Gaëlle's dad

Modeler and product technician

"Here is my father from Toulon (and proud of it) on his moped, in front of the family home.

I find him stylish in this photo because of his Bee Gees look, very fashionable at the time.

Open cotton shirt, very fitted pleated pants and Clarks-type shoes. Class in Dallas, in other words." - Gaëlle

"In December 1978, my father set foot on the Kerguelen Islands for a scientific research mission. These islands, lost in the depths of the Indian Ocean, buffeted by winds and without trees, have a harsh climate and you can clearly see in this photo the rudimentary equipment, at a time when synthetic, stretch, quick-drying fabrics and Gore-Tex barely existed.

My father wears olive-colored cotton pants and a zip-up overshirt, and a cotton flannel plaid shirt. It's a complete nonsense to take so many cotton clothes in a cold, damp climate because cotton dries very poorly, but:

  • It was the rustic equipment of the time,
  • and the plaid shirt and green jacket give an adventurer touch to this outfit!

He then wears a wool sweater for warmth and an orange raincoat that is absolutely not breathable and… off to count the penguin colonies!” - Benoît

"This photo was taken in 2013 in Algeria, for my cousin's wedding.

My father wore straight black pleated pants and a light shirt. All accompanied by a pair of brown boat shoes. An outfit that was both dressy and casual, just the way I like them." - Abdel

Léa's dad

"My father always wore a lot of white shirts and raw jeans. He always had a touch of elegance. He also wore Peaky Blinders-style suits, with a long coat and a Gavroche-style cap. He had this "rocker chic" side, always with his hair gelled." - Léa

Michel's dad

Copywriter

papa-michel-bg

"My father always had a pronounced taste for style. And like me, at one point, these tastes developed around his musical universe. He had a very rock style then calmed down, to my mother's great joy! After that, he wore timeless pieces like these bleach jeans whose cut I love and a Levi's jacket that I have since pinched from his closet. For this magnificent contrasting hoodie, I am still continuing the search." - Michel
