A TRUCKER SWEATER - JOHNSTONS OF ELGIN

You should know that as soon as I arrived at BonneGueule in March 2018, Benoît began to exert a form of control over me, a clothing neophyte.

Don't worry, we're just talking style. I'm referring to my black shirts. I quickly realized that it was going to be complicated to wear them to the office and even elsewhere. Impossible to live imagining Benoît virtually tapping me on the shoulder in the street as a call to order “Christophe, I told you: life is too short to be dressed in black”.

Since then, I have emancipated myself from this tutelary figure. I started by buying a black hoodie from Village Paris . In a very pretty Japanese cotton, I really like this hoodie. The day I came to the office with him, Benoît's remark was introductory: "Everyone does what they want."

Like many, I was convinced that a classic pair of white sneakers could satisfy me for the rest of my life. But the reality is different.

My daily life takes place in a boutique where every day I think about clothing combinations, discover new brands but also improbable styles, so much so that today I have a look that leads me to seek exoticism far away. usual standards.

However, I must tell you a secret. I don't believe in Santa Claus anymore. So I try to keep my feet on the ground and find pieces at reasonable prices away from designer brands.

Here is typically a piece with an atypical and divisive design that does not leave me indifferent.

It’s a brand that often offers unique designs and that’s so much the better. I like the lined interior which lets me imagine my feet warm on the frosty asphalt of Paris and obviously the set of folds held by the lace. With the iconic Margom sole which calms this little eccentricity.

AN EXCEPTIONAL BIC PEN - PINEL ET PINEL

For the 2nd choice I want to do a little provocation. I'm currently looking for a nice pen for my planner.

And what could be more obvious than a Bic pen... but the most chic of all: the edition from the house of Pinel et Pinel in taurillon leather. Or how to turn an object anchored in pop culture into a symbol of snobbery. It's hard not to see a touch of humor in it.

A REVERSIBLE VEST - STOFFÀ

For this first gift on my Christmas list, let's talk a little about Stoffà.

It is an American brand discovered during this year. Look at their lookbooks: it's very inspiring for those who love the double-sided aesthetic and equipped with a TEXTILEPEDIA , TO BECOME A MATERIAL EXPERT - EDITIONS FASHIONARY

This second proposition is not clothing!

Okay, it's a book about textiles. What do you want, we won't do it again.

I came across it during a visit to Fnac. It was packaged so I couldn't open it to look through it.

It still tickled me.

This book is a visual encyclopedia to understand everything about textiles : we show you and explain the different materials, weaves, knits, etc.

Enough to understand everything about slub, tweed, types of leather, etc.

The only downside is that this book is in English . Already in French, the textile vocabulary is very extensive, transferring it to another language can quickly become complex.

That being said, I think that just looking at the photos and diagrams helps us understand a lot about our favorite clothes.

Anyway, I would be very curious to see a little more of this work.

THE BOOK A DREAM GARDEN: ROHUNA, NORTHERN MOROCCO, BY UMBERTO PASTI - FLAMMARION

We start with a very beautiful book: A Dream Garden: Rohuna, Northern Morocco. It's not cheap (€60) but I was able to leaf through it in a bookstore, and it was already enough to take me on a trip . A jewel.

It's a photo book featuring "Rohuna", an extraordinary garden in northern Morocco. The Italian botanist Umberto Pasti, helped by locals, developed an extraordinary place there, both Noah's Ark of Mediterranean biodiversity and a jewel of landscaping.

An inspired and inspiring project.

It was a friend knowledgeable in musical rarities who introduced me to this pop nugget reissued on vinyl by the Berlin label Habibi Funk. I'm completely in love with "Modern Music" by the Egyptian group Al Masrieen, a revolutionary album with very seventies experimentation. Endlessly !

Dear Santa,

This year I'm working on a work-study basis, so I make regular trips back and forth between Paris and Bordeaux.

To protect myself from the Bordeaux showers, I really need a nice, sturdy umbrella. And for that, there is near my home, at the foot of the Pyrenees, the last shepherds' umbrella factory still in operation, Parapluie des Pyrénées. That’s solid! At the same time, at altitude, shepherds need an umbrella that is resistant to heavy rain but also strong wind.

So of course I may never be a shepherd, but being able to unfold such a piece of craftsmanship above my head would be great!

Since I participated in the BonneGueule team's Christmas selections, I have tried to choose gifts in the hope that someone will give them to me. I don't really know who, I don't really know why, but as soon as my contribution is online, I start monitoring my mailbox in case, one day, I discover the yellow notice there. and white from the postman.

I want to state this: this has never happened before.

Whose fault is it ? Not mine in any case, since every year I’m there!

I really don't know what's wrong with this strategy. That it is irrational and unreasonable is not a reason and I would like to say here that it saddens me and that I am disappointed.

However, I will not let myself be discouraged by a new prospect of failure!

I will be like James Dean in Giant, my face covered in oil , dancing in the rain of black gold and I will show up in your Instagram feed with black teeth also under my wide open mouth, because I will smile like crazy to have finally succeeded!

So, to you, dear uncle from America whom I have been waiting for since my earliest childhood , deign to take your responsibilities here and now and offer me this first present…

PINK RED BOAT SHOES - this Stoffa sweater which makes me dream about as much as one day having a Ministry of Style.

I could have but I didn't.

You see, I am entering a period in my life where I call upon the color of my wishes . For too long, I've been too careful. I played with blues, beiges, dark burgundy, shy greens and so on. And today I want to play with fire . This fire that inspires me to wear new colors. Or not for that matter.

But let's be clear: I don't want color that clashes for the sake of color that clashes because you shouldn't mess around. I want to master the art of color combinations. Showing that you can wear dark purple with gray green! Let the yellow shine with the rust! That fuchsia and navy are made to get along!

Color on my feet... It would be the first time!

But I tell myself that we have to start somewhere. And I might as well start with Yuketen, whose models always intrigue me, as timeless as they seem to me, as creative, as American and Japanese at the same time.

Plus, Yuketen and I have the same number of years under our belt. It's funny how we instantly find people who are close to us by birth data likable. I take this opportunity to declare my friendship to people who were born in 89, who come from Charente, who have an American first name and who wear moccasins even if that has nothing to do with it.
