Cold, rain… the underside of parkas: what the brands say (or not) – CDL#38 Reading ❄️ Your anti-cold armor: 2 sweaters, 3 scarves and 5 Scottish quality hats 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Next Four tips to beat the cold in winter

This year, the mercury can drop as much as it wants: you will be ready.

And you will do it in style.

Because today, I present to you two cold-proof lambswool armors .

And armor always comes with its equipment:

  • Three new scarves to protect your neck.
  • Five new hats to protect your ears.

Todd & Duncan Spinning Mill: Certified Scottish Quality 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

For the first time in our history, we are working with legendary Scottish spinner Todd & Duncan.

Famous for its expertise and the excellence of its color ranges, it is a supplier requested each season by luxury houses such as Chanel, Dior or Prada.

Next to it, Loch Seven, whose fresh water contributes greatly to the fame of its thread. And since we're itchy feet, we went to meet them in Scotland!

Todd & Duncan has been in business since 1867. Don't worry, I did the math: 153 years of expertise.

A “first shearing” lamb’s wool: fine, soft, and ethical 🐑

In total, the quality of each batch of raw fiber is checked three times.

For our yarn, Todd & Duncan used superfine merino lambswool : 18.5 microns, the equivalent of grade B cashmere!

This down comes from the first shearing of the young merino sheep, whose wool is softer than that of an adult. .

Ethical sourcing means verifying traceability.

✔️Respect for the animal world

  • This wool comes from mulesing free farms in South Africa , and of course the European REACH regulation.
  • The threads meet strict standards which exclude many other harmful substances from production.

Patient and perfectionist spinning 🧘‍♂️

The second point that makes Todd & Duncan famous is its century of spinning know-how!

It was during the 1950s that Todd & Duncan perfected its approach: the fibers were drawn longer for a rounder and more voluminous yarn.

It takes time and patience, but the result is a more beautiful thread, which best preserves the properties of the first tent lamb fiber. And that really makes a difference.

A locally rooted craft culture, now passed on to new generations.

A mesh rich in details 🇵🇹

For the knitting of this yarn, we leave Scotland, heading for Portugal.

This is where our workshop knits this sublime Gaelic yarn to give birth to our sweaters, scarves and hats.

The goal: to make the most of the beauty of Todd & Duncan yarn and the depth of its nuances.

“It’s a very big knitting stitch.

And it is essential to give that plump, soft and addictive side that we look for in a very large knit."

- Julien, Head of Collection

In the end, we find the feeling of a sweater, a hat and a scarf that our grandmother could have knitted for us. A truly awesome grandmother.

And because this granny would always take care of our style , we have enriched this mesh with relief, texture, and a cocktail of nuances.

Do you see those light and dark shades of intertwining threads?

At BonneGueule, knitted pieces are entirely re-knitted:

1️⃣The inserts are knitted directly into their final shape, with finished edges.

2️⃣The sides are carefully connected with a chain stitch.

3️⃣The collar is tied with intertwining loops.

This technique takes time, but allows you to have:
  • A clean and aesthetic assembly.
  • A soft and comfortable mesh in every way.
  • No fraying.

For this European knitting championship, we knitted you...

Two sweaters, "heavyweight" category

It's 7am .

You have to go out and face the zero score that awaits you outside. If it were any warmer, you would be sweating so much you dread this ordeal.

This sweater is made for those moments.

He is here to transform your apprehension into desire.

The urge to go out and face the gusts, wrapped up in your comforting mesh shield .

In dry, less brutal weather, you can even forget your coat at home.

820g (Eight hundred and twenty grams).

This is his weight in size M. We are very far from these thick but airy sweaters .

This makes it our heaviest sweater.

"The challenge?

To get a sweater as warm as our superyak sweater, but with a more accessible material, and just as comfortable."

- Julien

Note from Benoit: my experience with this sweater

You're going to laugh, but my main fear with this sweater was... being too hot!

And from the first ports, it quickly took off, because the thermoregulatory properties of this first sheared lamb, and this knitting stitch, work wonders. Even indoors. Even when the radiator gets angry.

This is one of the most comfortable knits in my wardrobe, with its softness and smoothness. In "X Factor" terms, we're doing very well here!

This sweater therefore closes our 2019 knitwear collection in style, with the great thrill of Scottish know-how. 🔥

How to wear these sweaters?

With this big, characterful knit stitch, leave your suit jacket in the locker room. Make way for relaxation.

Without fleeing the rain

Barbour coat, Gitman Vintage shirt, BonneGueule boots and trousers

Well, put on a raincoat. In case of unpredictable weather, a waxed cotton will suffice, your sweater will take care of the rest.

And when I talk about the rest, I'm talking about the cold.

By conquering Scotland

Levi's denim jacket, BonneGueule coat

Grab your workwear pants, put on your combat boots, put your jacket collar into attack mode, and don't slide off that cliff.

On an autumn picnic

BonneGueule pants , Grenson boots, vintage LIP watch (lent by our friend Don ), BonneGueule vest

No need for a diving suit: just grab a flannel vest, for fun, and let its thick knit taunt the breeze.

With a Thursday night drink

To this day, Jordan is still looking for a bar: Chino BonneGueule coming soon, Converse Sneakers

A range of neutral tones, a navy jacket with a shirt collar to be chic and a hat to not be too much.

On a date

Officine Générale pants, BonneGueule boots and coat

Because casualness and elegance go well together, add a little light with white pants and a woolen coat... yak!

Three scarves to twist the thermometer's neck

When the mercury flirts with zero, wearing a woolen behemoth is good.

Wearing it with a scarf is better.

1️⃣ An ideal length to wrap yourself up flawlessly.

2️⃣ A beautiful flowing drape, so that the scarf can live as it pleases and give a touch of nonchalance to your outfit.

It's even better.

Five hats, headbutt to the weather

The cold attacks through the extremities and your head is one of them.

So it was about time.

It was time to answer the big question of the morning:

“Damn, I don’t have a hat that goes with this outfit.”

So here are five colors that will silence that little voice forever.

For versatility: beige, navy and gray

For a touch of panache: burgundy and olive
