When you take a road trip in the United States, it is obligatory to stop in a national park , as the country is full of magnificent places and landscapes that you will not find anywhere else.
Even if you don't like hiking, it would be criminal not to take a few hours' walk in the middle of these very well-preserved corners (Americans don't joke about little pollution like papers on the ground).
There is a real change of scenery when you face an immense sequoia dating back several centuries, or an ocher-colored canyon that stretches as far as the eye can see. Here we present to you the main parks we visited with the outfit we wore during the visit 😉
The redwoods of Redwood Park
Geoffrey had already talked about it in a primary forest , therefore very old, which explains the presence of these ferns and these giant trees which give a very old-fashioned feel to the place.
It is no coincidence that scenes from Jurassic Park and Star Wars (the passages with the Ewoks) were filmed in the area.
That day, I wore a Melinda Gloss jacket and shirt, a Monoprix tank top, DRKSHDW jeans - read Rick Owens - (which are extremely comfortable compared to my other jeans, without me being able to explain why), my trusty Wings + Horns sneakers and my usual Tom Ford sunglasses .
It wasn't that hot that day, hence the simple layering with the tank top and the shirt 😉 I really like the non-precious side of the jacket which is a bit of a change from what I usually wear . And the shoulders are perfect!
What I like about Rick Owens jeans is this super neat cut at the thighs and waist.
Zion, or one of the most beautiful places I know
We already talked about it in the article on Balibaris , but watch your eyes: Zion Park is an absolutely splendid place . The landscapes are exactly the same as the Bouncer comic for those who know, that is to say very majestic and imposing. Everything is extremely preserved, and it is not uncommon to come across deer during the journey.
The most famous area is Angels Landing , a kind of rocky peak more than 450 meters high ! Access is very simple, the pedestrian path is (unfortunately) concreted, so there are no technical difficulties during the walk... On the other hand, the difference in altitude is quite steep, don't hesitate to take breaks.
But once at the top, that's where the sport begins, since you have 1.8 km to cover on a rocky strip that is sometimes 1 meter wide and 450 meters high...
Don't go there if you're afraid of heights, the situation can be really dangerous if you panic. I heard a tourist say spontaneously that we walk with death on both sides, and I want to believe it: it's very impressive when you're there .
But if you take your time and don't mess around, there's no problem.
Once at the end of the cliff, you will be greatly rewarded with a view that you will remember for the rest of your life:
We even come across these little squirrels at the summit, wondering what they are doing on this steep peak with very little vegetation:
For this hike, I kept my outfit as simple as possible: a simple, indestructible Unconditional t-shirt, the Balibaris chinos that we've already talked about, and once again my Wings + Horns sneakers (I only had that to wear). ). It is clear that chinos are the ideal pants for a walk, because they are light and allow you to move well . As for my sneakers, I remain impressed by the quality of the sole which takes wear and tear without flinching.
Ah, and obviously, we had to take the opportunity to take a photo of the BonneGueule BGR – 01 jeans which are starting to fade:
Monument Valley: like the Indians
You must have seen this place, because these remarkable geological formations are in every Indian film worthy of the name . The ocher color gives a very striking visual aspect to this place, and when the sun sets, the landscape is even more majestic.
On the other hand, there are not really any trails planned for walking, you have to content yourself with traveling through this Navajo Indian reserve by car... The atmosphere is unique - majestic and contemplative -, but we still remain embarrassed facing these Indians who often live in houses made of odds and ends (the houses you can see in the background in the photo).
As you can see, the colors are quite vibrant. It’s precisely this very particular ocher color that goes very well with the khaki of Geoffrey’s Melinda Gloss trench coat:
The t-shirt is a little transparent and reveals the tank top.
Geoffrey really likes this rather raw combination.
Melinda Gloss trench coat, American Vintage t-shirt, Monoprix marcel,
BonneGueule jeans (😉) and Tabuba shoes (photos taken by Baptiste)
I have no idea what Geoffrey was up to at the time of the photo.
We also took photos of the salt flat and in a ghost town in between (coming soon)... and we just got out of the Filson factories.
