I regularly get questions about cargo pants : easy to wear, they also add character to your outfits thanks to their patch pockets. A good alternative to chinos , in short.
However, it is true that you find very few of them on the market, although these are pants that you like, and so do we .
I've been poking around a lot of brands and e-shops in recent weeks, looking for brands that offer them.
Here are the brands I found:
Entry level
1. The Pants
Le Pantalon has just released a pair of cargo pants, available in blue and green .
This is a good choice for anyone looking for cargo pants under 100€ with a fitted cut.
2. House Standards
The brand has been offering a cargo for some time now, always at less than €100, with Portuguese manufacturing.
Available in beige , navy and green .
Since I've been asked a lot about it, and having tried it, here is my opinion:
- It's a carrot cut: there's room at the thighs, the bottom is slightly tightened. It's a very different cut from the Le Pantalon model.
- The material didn't really convince me. The fabric is a bit dull, the color lacks a bit of depth.
3. Carhartt
The brand has a category dedicated to cargo pants on its e-shop. Several dozen references are offered.
The cuts are rather straight.
The style is more workwear/streetwear.
4. Arket
I see that the brand offers in the current collection a light beige cargo , straight cut, in velvet.
Mid-range
1. Scavini
This is not, I think, a brand that would spontaneously come to mind for this product. And yet, Julien Scavini launched a few months ago a cargo available in 3 colors in an English fabric from Brisbane Moss, with its so-called "classic" cut, moderately adjusted.
Three colors are available: beige , taupe and blue .
These pants are rather dressy with their offset buttoning and side tightening tabs. .
This is a very good option for those who are not looking for a very workwear-style cargo.
2. Blue of Paname
We change register and arrive directly in workwear territory with Bleu de Paname. The French brand therefore offers military-inspired cargo pants , cut rather straight.
3. (The Egoist) Paris
The French brand with multiple influences makes many cargos , in different colors, materials and styles. There is something to do.
4. Stan Ray
The American brand offers a cargo pant in its current collection, cut straight, in a workwear spirit, and tightening at the ankle.
5. General Office
The French brand is going for cargo pants, which are rather casual, both in style and cut.
I currently see a green model in stretch cotton, and a blue model in tencel and stretch cotton.
6. Seagale
For those looking for a more technical cargo, Seagale recently released one in a slim fit.
Very stretchy and water-repellent, it is a good option for those looking for comfort and functionality.
Be careful with the visual rendering: quite different from cotton, it can be a bit disconcerting if you are not used to it.
7. NN07
The Danish brand offers simple and well-made basics. I've seen a cargo or two in their collection for a season or two now.
High-end
1. Maharishi
The brand makes beautiful cargo pants every season, in different styles and materials.
Very good for a more high-end pair of pants, with character and beautiful details.
2. OrSlow
The high-end Japanese workwear label offers beautiful cargo pants full of details and made in Japan.
You can find cargos at Graduate Store or Caliroots for example.
3. Informal
The beautiful Australian brand offers two cargos in its collection: one taupe and one blue .
The cut is rather straight, without excess.
Please note:
- A clip is present at the front of each leg, for a slightly more dressed-up look.
- Prices displayed are in Australian dollars and not in US dollars as one might instinctively think.
4. Surveyor
This beautiful brand was recently mentioned in Graduation Store , Kafka Mercantile or Rendez-Vous Store for example.
