Editorial nuggets #07 – Benoit

Here I am back with my selection of nuggets!

I confess, when Christophe told me that I had carte blanche, I took advantage of it. So if you find that there is no connection between the Grovemade belt and Rancourt's Chromexcel shoes, that's normal.

Although both use vegetable-tanned leather…

There will also be merino and Converse!

Grovemade Minimalist Belt

Why this brand?

I wasn't a fan of their founding product, a bamboo iPhone case, but it's clear that this little designer brand is starting to produce some really cool things. I won't be able to really explain it, but I feel a good "vibe" behind this brand (maybe because they wear caps in the photos)!

Why this room?

No, there's more to life than just Cobra belts! I really liked this very sober design, and above all, all the story telling behind it .

This is how it works:

For those who are always afraid of having belts that are too flashy.

100% merino wool shirt Béni

Why this brand?

It's a new brand founded by a long-time BonneGueule reader.

Like me, he is a big supporter of merino clothing for its multiple technical properties .

While brands dedicated to merino are very common among "digital nomads", and they are well represented internationally (see Wool&Prince , Wolk , Loow , etc.), a French brand was missing in this niche.

And it's done with a small collection of 100% merino t-shirts and shirts. Important note: there is a small line for women if you wish to introduce your partner to this material.

Why this room?

Because a 100% merino wool shirt AND one that is really soft is not common. And if you are a fan of a very minimalist wardrobe, this piece is for you.

Slippers (yes yes) Rancourt in Chromexcel leather made in USA

Chromexcel leather + merino wool interior + US manufacturing = the slipper of a lifetime!

Were you looking for THE ultimate slipper? I found it !

Why this brand?

Rancourt is a badass American workboot shoe manufacturer, specializing in sturdy shoes that last. They use very beautiful leathers from Horween and rubber soles, in addition to the traditional Vibram soles.

His speciality ? Their work with bison leather , supple and resistant, which gives a very textured appearance to the shoe.

Why this model?

This is the slipper that will give you mega swag at home:

  • Chromexcel leather will age beautifully, giving it a unique shade thanks to Horween's secret recipe
  • and style! Style my friends! The design leans towards boat shoes, so something very casual and timeless.

Please note, its use is only reserved indoors !

Converse Chuck 70 Gore-Tex

The heritage of the Converse 70 range is perfectly respected.

Why this brand?

The Chuck model is so iconic that it embodies the Converse brand in itself.

Indeed, if there is one sneaker model that has spanned the decades, it is it, as its timeless lines have inspired numerous generations of designers.

Whether in a student context or in a very workwear/vintage outfit, you have a ton of inspiration to integrate them into your outfits.

Hint: Japanese brands of all kinds lend themselves very well to the game of Converse from the “70” range.

Why this room?

I've been getting a lot of questions about my Gore-Tex Adidas NMDs lately, including how to incorporate this futuristic look into an everyday outfit.

Indeed, this “sock sneaker” type design is not the easiest to understand, and I wanted to choose a sneaker design for you that is much easier to wear every day.

And with the opportunity being the thief, Converse decides to release their Chuck model in Gore-Tex .

There is a nuance of size: it is the "70" range which has been "gore-texized", the one which is the most qualitative (namely: a more solid cotton canvas, a more robust sole, etc.).

On this pair , I find that the integration of Gore-Tex here is very clean and discreet (because sometimes, Converse + Gore-Tex = hazardous design ).

And Gore-Tex here solves a big problem inherent to Converse: its (non) resistance to rain! In fact, as soon as you walk in a light shower, the cotton canvas of the Converse "sucks up" all the water by capillary action and it only takes a few drops to have your feet wet.

But that's all history, these "Chuck 70s" are waterproof for good.

The much appreciated line of the 70 range is respected to the letter, and there are only these branded flat laces which recall the presence of the membrane.

Personally I find these laces rather funny, but nothing stops you from changing them if you are allergic to the slightest mention of "Gore-Tex".

In short, an excellent pair for those who think there is too much techwear on BonneGueule 😉

No more soaked feet in Converse.
