Vans is a Californian brand initially specialized in skateboard shoes. The company now offers a complete wardrobe for women, men and children, now intended for everyday use.
The company was founded in 1966 by 5 partners, including Paul Van Doren and James Van Doren. Targeting the booming skateboard market in the 1970s, the brand enjoyed great success and became a legend in its field, notably thanks to its iconic shoe models such as the "Era" or "Authentic".
Once this golden age has passed, the company faces a decline in activity and debt problems. These led to its closure followed by a takeover by the distribution company VF Corporation, which relaunched the brand via several sponsorship partnerships in the world of skateboarding and rock.
With an annual turnover of around three billion dollars, Vans is available all over the world: in its boutiques, multi-brand stores, but also on its own e-shop and those of multiple online distributors . In France, the brand is available in more than 1000 points of sale.
