Maison Standards is a brand that has gone through several periods.
Step 1 : when it was created in 2013, in a nascent and uncompetitive men's market, the offer was relevant and well positioned. We remember the €50 sweatshirts and shirts that we tested.
As such, Maison Standards is a pioneer brand in France in the niche of good value for money basics.
Step 2: Between the years 2015 to 2018, prices increase quite significantly and synthetics begin to appear in compositions where there was none before.
To give you some examples:
• Sweatshirts have gradually gone from €50 to around €90.
• Shirts went from €50 to around €70.
• Wool flannel pants were marketed with a composition of 60% wool, 40% polyester.
To find out more, you can use the free online tool "Wayback Machine" to see how prices change over time.
It was also at this time that new players appeared in the clothing segment with good value for money (Hast, Le Pantalon or Loom for example).
For these reasons, we recommend the brand a little less.
Step 3 : Since 2018/2019, the brand has experienced a revival:
• We now find more creativity , the range is a little less basic than before. You will notably see velvet, stripes, color, jogging shapes or zipped sweaters.
• The materials are better. We find French velvet from Velcorex. The cold wool pants from the current collection are indeed 100% wool.
• The brand makes efforts regarding the information present on the product sheets (origins of materials and manufacturing).
• Prices have stabilized.
Today, the brand's offering is correctly positioned, and although not the most competitive, it is worth a look, especially for the pieces or colors that stand out a little from the pack compared to the pure basics.
Maison Standards is a ready-to-wear brand for men and women.
