Lyle & Scott

Our opinion

Lyle and Scott offers clothes from a very British universe. Price-wise, you will need to count between 60 and 80 euros for a polo shirt or chinos and between 100 and 150 euros for a wool piece.

The quality is correct but the prices are a bit excessive outside of sales.

In addition, the brand offers several clothing lines: a Vintage line which draws inspiration from its sporting past, a more contemporary and casual Heritage range, a high-end Prestige category and a Club line which targets golf enthusiasts.

Small clarification: you should not hesitate to take a size larger than your usual size because the sizing is rather small. This is especially true for the Vintage line.

The history of the brand Lyle & Scott

Lyle and Scott was founded by William Lyle and Walter Scott in 1874 in the Scottish borders.

Originally, this brand supplied golfers with sweaters and cardigans made from local wool. We find the imagination of this sport in the brand's logo (a golden eagle) since in the jargon, an "eagle" corresponds to a score two shots lower than par.

In 2001, the brand changed its style to offer a more sportswear-oriented universe . It enjoyed some success with indie-pop artists like Arctic Monkeys, which helped popularize the brand in the United Kingdom. There she dressed many artists and even the royal family of England.

It arrived in France in 2008. Since then, Lyle and Scott has mainly offered polo shirts, sweaters, cardigans and scarves. It still manufactures some wool garments in its original factory in Hawick.
