Lee

Our opinion

Lee offers a wide range of products: mainly denim but also shirts and knitwear.

Located in the mid-range sector, its jeans are generally sold for less than €100.

With its workwear heritage, the brand offers both pieces focused on this universe and more “basic” clothing. In addition, it has a superior quality range called “Lee 101”, bringing together its most advanced design products.

Lee generally offers honest value for money compared to direct competition. However, the brand suffers from its need to maintain a strong brand image via major advertising campaigns, which has a significant impact on the final price.

The history of the brand Lee

Like Levi's and Wrangler, Lee is one of the three pioneering denim brands.

Founded in 1889 at the instigation of industrialist Henry David Lee , the company began slowly by supplying numerous products to American workers: manual tools, work clothing, food, etc.

It was in 1911, when the working world was booming, that the company began specializing in denim. Taking advantage of war orders from 1917, the company expanded throughout the United States.

Since 1945, Lee has been one of the leading denim manufacturers in the world and is part of the "big three" club along with Levi's and Wrangler.

Innovative in its washes and the construction of its pieces, the brand is today widely distributed while constituting one of the sure values in the very particular world of vintage denim found in thrift stores.

Contemporary productions, on the other hand, are much more heterogeneous: you really find everything, both good and bad.
