Both brands offer very satisfactory value for money. For Momotaro we are at the high end of jeans so count on 300 euros for a piece.
Japan Blue Jeans is more affordable with jeans between 150 and 200 euros.
But prices can fluctuate very significantly depending on the exchange rates between the Euro and the Yen.
Whether at Momotaro or Japan Blue, the denims are very well made with beautiful finishes. We think in particular of the famous pink selvedge border of the first one.
Everyone will find what they are looking for since there is a wide variety of cuts from both brands.
Japan Blue Group was founded in Kojima, a port district of Kurashiki, Japan. This district is also nicknamed the “denim mecca” because it is here that the first Japanese jeans were produced.
Today, the reputation of Kojima artisans is well established and it is not surprising to note that Japan Blue Group mainly produces jeans and denim clothing.
Japan Blue Group actually encompasses two brands:
- Momotaro , whose name means “fishing boy” in Japanese, is distinguished by the use of a pink selvedge border in reference to this practice. This brand dyes its fabrics with natural indigo.
- Japan Blue Jeans , which uses a mixture of indigo and sulfur.
The difference between these two brands is mainly due to the fact that Japan Blue Jeans is more international by offering jeans at more affordable prices than Momotaro.
