Let me be clear from the outset: we recommend Buzz Rickson's and find a lot of merit in it.
Buzz Rickson's original niche is the scrupulous reproduction of aviation jackets. These faithful replicas are manufactured using original methods and materials. This involves a fanatical study of materials to determine how they were woven and not letting the know-how and manufacturing techniques that are now obsolete die.
From there, the founders try to weave the basic material themselves. When they fail, they get old machines and repair them. It is a long and tedious creation process which involves a high, but justified, selling price.
Buzz Rickson's offering has grown over the years. The ardor to faithfully recreate remains the same for each product. It's stunning.
We particularly remember the Deck Jacket N1, the 4 Needles tubular sweatshirts and almost all the rest of their products.

Buzz Rickson's is a Japanese men's ready-to-wear brand founded in 1993 and whose name is borrowed from the character played by Steve McQueen in The War Lover (1961).
