Italian fabric: 85% recycled wool, 15% new wool

This story begins with the clever idea of one man: during the post-World War II shortage of raw textile materials, Enzo Anacleto Mantellassi revives an old Italian spinning mill to create yarn from unused military uniforms. An 80-year-old recipe, now used for your coat: Manteco collects used textiles, sorted them by color, shredded them, and spun them again, adding only 15% of new wool.

In addition to setting you apart, this unique brown shade encourages more responsible consumption: it is born from recycled beige and brown garments, locally sourced, without dyes or chemicals. Manteco has thus reduced its carbon footprint to around 0.9kg of CO2 eq/kg compared to 10.4 to 103kg for virgin wool. This has been certified by the GRS (Global Recycled Standard), which certified 85% of this wool, also confirming a 99.9% reduction in water consumption and a 93.3% reduction in energy use.

It's a sincere and authentic approach to recycling that we would love to see more often—and one that deserves to be highlighted.

The classic collar and clean aesthetics have given men a unique presence for over 200 years: in 1823, in Glasgow, Charles Macintosh invented the waterproof coat that bears his name. Whether made from wool or cotton, its shape, commonly referred to as the “mac", became a classic in men's wardrobes, both on the streets and on screen, draped over the shoulders of Steve McQueen or Jonathan Meyers.

To give you that same distinct look, we've honored what makes this cut timeless: a generous collar, a straight silhouette, and a knee-length design so that its soft wool fabric moves gracefully with your every step. And for added comfort and style, we opted for a slight drop shoulder.
