A jersey weighing around 160 to 180 g/m² will feel lightweight and is ideal for summer. From around 220 g/m², a T-shirt will have more structure and hold its shape better.
Look at the density of the jersey, how well the collar holds its shape, the consistency of the stitching and the overall drape. A good T-shirt should retain its shape wash after wash.
Cotton remains the most versatile choice. Linen is ideal for summer thanks to its breathability, while merino wool offers excellent temperature regulation.
